Comedian Tony Knight dies from falling tree branch at 54

British comedian and "Dog Listener" Tony Knight has died in an accident at 54, according to both a GoFundMe page started by his partner's sister and French newspaper Le Tarn Libre.

On June 7, two large tree branches struck Knight and others in attendance at the Rock & Cars Festival in Lavaur, France. Four more people reportedly sustained injuries but survived.

According to the fundraiser, Knight "was only 54 and having the time of his life. He was fit, healthy, happy and had everything going for him. He was charismatic, funny, passionate and so very loved by [his partner] Hayley, his family and his friends all over the world." He was just a few days into his annual vacation to France.

As of July 5, people had donated $8,501 to put toward Knight's funeral, medical bills, and the costs of figuring out his estate. The situation has been complicated, the author said, because of Knight having been "an Englishman with Australian residency living in France."

Jo, the author, said her sister, Hayley, had been in a relationship with Knight for 15 years. She wrote lovingly of him. She said he "loved comedy and had performed his show Mad Dogs and an Englishman at all sorts of venues both in Australia and overseas."

He was about to take his act through the United Kingdom and run his dog classes in Europe.

"His passion was dogs and he helped people all over the world with his classes both in person, online, on radio and television, ebooks, and more," Jo wrote. "He was very well respected and admired. His method worked and he loved helping people with their dogs."

He spent what ended up being the last part of his life with loved ones.

"He'd been based on our family farm near Beaufort for the past 4 years building a life there with Hayley and proving to be a bit of a handy man," Jo wrote, "He just put his mind to something and he did it! He had been very happy."
