Empowering community leaders for a more inclusive Hong Kong
Über uns
Established in 2017, Resolve Foundation is a section 88 charity that has a mission to inspire, empower, connect and amplify the impact of emerging leaders and community changemakers, to drive a more inclusive Hong Kong. Our signature annual Fellowship program, which intentionally follows an intersectional approach, has now provided structured capacity building and one-to-one mentorship to more than 100 emerging leaders, from all walks of life in Hong Kong. Our innovative Opportunity Fund program has awarded 25 seed grants to our alumni for initiatives that have gone on to reach over 8,000 primary and secondary beneficiaries in disadvantaged local communities. Later this year we will expand our work into local secondary schools, with a pilot leadership program called #StandByMe that covers active bystander intervention for youth. We also deliver public education and corporate engagement campaigns on furthering inclusive practices, to reach the widest possible audience. To learn more, please visit www.resolvehk.org

“There is no limit to what we as women can accomplish.” - Michelle Obama “Women will only have true equality when men share with them the responsibility of bringing up the next generation.” - Ruth Bader Ginsburg 🎉 Happy 20th anniversary to The Women's Foundation! Congratulations on the incredible work you do and the fantastic “Gender Equality Summit: Evolution Through Exchange” anniversary event yesterday! So grateful I was able to participate! 🙏 I walked away with valuable insights, meaningful connections, and a renewed sense of purpose. Huge thanks to Fiona Nott for her inspiring opening remarks on the importance of staying #curious, being #opentolearning, and cultivating #empathy. I left with a smile and more than three actionable commitments! 🙌🏽 🌟Throughout the day, I was reminded of the vital role foreign domestic workers (#FDWs) play in supporting our vibrant Hong Kong, women and families like mine. Their contributions are immense, yet there is still much to be done to uplift and empower them. As part of my commitment, I pledge to further support the #FDW community through my daily actions, both at home and outside, in collaboration with NGOs like Resolve Foundation and more. My helper Melanie has been with us for nearly 12 years, and I truly don’t know what I would do without her! Shoutout to NGOs like HELP for Domestic Workers, Manisha Wijesinghe and Uplifters, Marie Kretz Di Meglio for their dedication to amplifying the voices of FDW women in Hong Kong! 🌟The "Chat Exploring Masculinities" session with moderator Tamara L., and Henry Tse, JOSE MIGUEL CAMPI-PORTALUPPI (He, Him, Él) was particularly thought-provoking - I wish we had had more time! With a nearly 18-year-old son at home, I want to engage him more in the gender equality conversation. While I feel I’m doing an okay job as a mom, I know I can do better. As my second action, I will share Equimundo: Center for Masculinities and Social Justice and the speakers' insights with my family, friends, and DEIB community, as well as integrate some the lessons and research into my FELIZ Consulting training programs to clients. 🌟I also loved hearing impactful personal stories, like @Selena Chan's experiences with TWF's Girls Go Tech Programme. For my third actionable commitment, I will continue sharing what I've learned at this #TWF event including Selena's story, Queenie Man's work on inclusion across generations within the aging population, Angelina A. Kwan CPA CA (Aus/NZ) passion to empower young girls in science, and Olivia Cotes-James, LUÜNA | B Corp™ efforts to bridge the gender health gap. A huge thank you to all #TWF team, speakers, volunteers and attendees that made it happen, and created such incredible energy in the room - and the wonderful MC Alyson Hau who kept the flow going so smoothly! 😄😍🤩👏 Let's keep the momentum going, taking action one step at a time and doing a bit more! 💪🏼💕🙋🏻♀️🌟 #GenderEquality #TWF20 #EmpowerWomen #Inclusion #Learning

💬 Hong Kong's migrant workers are.... The first word that pops up in the minds of most people when trying to complete that sentence above ☝ is most likely a stereotype 🙅 ✍ Last Sunday, Domestic Helper's Stories Hong Kong (with Ailenemae Ramos (She/Her)) hosted a storytelling event at our center to debunk such stereotypes, proving their talent, creativity and eloquence. A diverse panel was invited to recite and share their personal heartfelt stories 🎙 with topics ranging from how life was back in their home countries to navigating completely new environments such as Hong Kong and other cities 🏙. Hearing from the speakers firsthand allowed us to honour their voices and experiences 👂. 💪 The "Unveiling Domestic Helper's Stories" event was supported by and made possible thanks to: Resolve Foundation Migrant Writers of Hong Kong To show the Center's support towards initiatives led by ethnic minority communities, we have been offering and will continue to offer affordable rates (at half price of the usual) for venue rental for migrant domestic workers. We look forward to hosting more of such events in the future! #communityevents #thepowerofstories #migrantvoices

🌏 For the #InternationalDayofCharity, we asked our non-profit partners what their biggest wishes were when it comes to #philanthropy and #funding. Here is what they had to say: 🤝 Trust - The most successful relationships between funders and NGOs are anchored on #trust. 🌿 Unrestricted Funding - Multi-year unrestricted funding gives groups the flexibility to respond to the needs of their communities. 🧑🤝🧑 People - Core operational funding recognizes the value of the people needed to lead impactful organizations. 🌟 Supporting small projects can deliver very tangible #socialimpact on the ground. 💡 Mindset Shift - We cannot be business-as-usual to solve today’s problems. We need to be willing to take calculated risks to make a difference. In Firetree, we strive to work in solidarity and partnership with the organizations that we fund, moving beyond traditional and hierarchical notions of “charity.” We would like to thank our current and former partners BagoSphere, Uplifters, The Kite Tales, Baan Dek Foundation, and Resolve Foundation for sharing their insights with us.
