SVhk has been an early supporter of AVPN since its inception, firmly believing that changemakers across Asia, regardless of the form of capital or resources they work with, should come together as a collective to uplift one another. Our Founder and CEO, Francis Ngai is delighted to share with Cambridge Judge Business School how AVPN has fostered a diverse and innovative community both internally and externally. By constantly embracing unusual alliances and being receptive to new ideas from the team and members, AVPN has created an ecosystem of collaboration across Asia. At SVhk, we cherish our partnership with AVPN, as we brought family-led capital owners and professionals earlier this year to inspire actions to tackle Asian cities' pressing challenges like youth development and wellbeing, affordable housing, and more. Read Francis' sharing on AVPN's impact via this link: https://lnkd.in/gwX9Ddjq #impactcapital #ecosystembuilding #SVhk
Are you interested in Asia's social impact landscape? AVPN's journey, detailed in a new Cambridge case study, is a compelling read! Remember AVPN as just a venture philanthropy network? Think again! Cambridge Judge Business School's case study by Dr. Shonali Banerjee reveals AVPN's evolution from connecting philanthropists to building a powerful social impact ecosystem across Asia. Imagine philanthropy not just about giving money, but building the infrastructure for lasting change. This is AVPN's story. ✅ Funders & NGOs collaborate to tackle pressing issues. ✅ Corporations & Public Sector join forces for greater good. ✅ Knowledge Sharing & Innovation fuel impactful solutions. The result? A movement for systemic change across #Asia. What's next? We're constantly evolving, fostering deeper connections and amplifying impact for Asia's future. Want to dive deeper? SVhk is excited to share this open notebook that is built upon our previous community engagement and empowerment experiences in various neighbourhoods, including Staunton Street / Shing Wong Street in partnership with the Urban Renewal Authority 市區重建局, across Wan Chai, Kwai Chung, most importantly in Sham Shui Po - where our co-caring space COMM, ON is based. The Community Makers' Guide not only captures our experience but also guides our upcoming work in Kwun Tong and Kowloon East. If you aspire to cocreate vibrant neighbourhoods with us in these mentioned communities, let's get in touch! Download our guide at: https://lnkd.in/gsAMufJN #CommunityMaking #CommunityEngagement #SVhk #SocialInnovation
Celebrating the launch of the Community Makers' Guide at its place of origin - the Staunton Street/Shing Wong Street Neighbourhood! The Institute of Community Making (ICM), powered by Social Ventures Hong Kong and COSMOS, is proud to unveil our Community Makers' Guide, to introduce our 4C Community Making cycle, featuring illustrative case studies by pioneers from around the globe, as well as showcasing SVhk and URA's experience in revitalizing the Staunton Street/Shing Wong Street Neighbourhood (H19) using this approach since 2019. We had the pleasure of having Wilfred Au, Executive Director of the URA, and Amy Cheung, President of the Hong Kong Institute of Planners, join ICM’s ED Florence Cheng for a fireside chat alongside ICM's Convenor, Francis Ngai, to share common experiences in community making. From our work in H19, Kennedy Town, to Kwun Tong, our speakers highlighted key learnings, including: ⚡ Fostering a sense of belonging is crucial for community engagement: It is often the most challenging task for community makers to move beyond one-way consultations to a two-way dialogue driven by those who care for the place they call home, but it is also the most important one. ⚡ Piloting is an integral part of the process: Once the community has developed a shared vision for the future, collaboration on prototype projects based on shared interests, such as farming, helps build relationships and commitments before more resources can be dedicated to longer term implementations ⚡ Succession is vital: While the project initiator may eventually transition out, it does not mean a complete retreat. Instead, we need to ensure that local stakeholders can be empowered to take up the mantle and continue the legacy. For example, Habyt, the co-living operator for the revitalized Tong Laus at H19, has now taken the lead in building the neighborhood further through initiatives like enlisting co-living residents to participate in the community farm and carrying out its own artist-in-residence programme. ⚡ Everyone has a stake in Community Making! Beyond public and philanthropic funding, we can (re)discover how our resources can be leveraged for community making effort. Diversify the stream of resources we are tapping into also enhances the sustainability of community making initiatives. You can download our guide via: https://lnkd.in/gsAMufJN We are excited to embark on this journey of Community Making with fellow learners like you and will keep building our online case bank to pool local practices and insights. Feel free to share your thoughts with us! #CommunityMaking #UrbanRenewal #NeighborhoodRevitalization #CommunityEngagement #SocialInnovation

𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 創.女程 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗛𝗲𝗿𝟮𝗕! Today marks a momentous milestone as we unveil 創.女程 EmpowHer2B, a new initiative born from SVhk's partnership with Standard Chartered and its 6 corporate clients, in our collective mission to uplift and amplify the participation and aspirations of #women across various societal roles. Reflecting on our own journey, it seems like only yesterday when we started HATCH Limited as a co-working factory for mothers with young children to hatch their dreams through flexible arrangements. We have since partnered with 10+ corporates to develop prototypes such as "Jobcation" (3-month mothers' returnship) alongside COSMOS impact consultancy and #BusinessWithPurpose, innovating new aspirational workstyle solutions beyond the factory. Our experiences has shown us the importance of enabling diverse role models in the community to create a sense of aspirations for those who struggle from time to time. Today's launch represents both a celebration of new possibilities and a reaffirmation of our commitment as past and new efforts converge to rethink women empowerment, with business participation as the cornerstone. Our new initiative pools a USD1,000,000 community investment from our founding partners for women across different life stages to transform their personal, professional or entrepreneurial from #aspirations into #actions. These funds will support a new #Business Collective, annual Community #Fellowship, and Advocacy #Campaign over the next three years. Beyond financial support, participating corporates will also provide job placements, mentorship, skill sharing opportunities as well as access to business networks for women returnees and micro-entrepreneurs, creating a win-win for all. Today marks just the beginning of this new chapter of our journey. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to shine a light on the diverse choices and roles women can play in the #futureofwork!
