Founded in 2020 by Abhiroop Medhekar, Atul Khichariya, and Saurav Swaroop, Velocity's financing suite includes a range of financing products. We work with 4,000+ brands and have disbursed ₹800 Cr+. We have partnerships with 26 ecosystem players, including four of the largest marketplaces. Our portfolio includes many of India’s fastest-growing D2C brands such as French Crown, Soulflower, Chumbak, Off Duty, Itsy Bitsy, Bear House, Gear merchandise, Milano ice cream, Jamie’s Pizzeria, IDC, Farmley, Kebabs and Curries, KCC, and Zlade to name a few.     Velocity’s D2C spotlight this month shines on Gynoveda Gynoveda’s  story is about personal healing and visionary innovation. The founders, Rachana Gupta and Vishal Gupta experienced remarkable recoveries from illnesses through Ayurvedic remedies. Vishal’s struggle with psoriasis lasted nearly a decade, as he went through multiple unsuccessful allopathic treatments. This sparked a realization: the untapped but immense potential of Ayurveda in the modern world! Driven by Rachana's passion for women's empowerment, the couple invested in a Mumbai-based Ayurvedic clinic, where they met Dr Aarati Patil, an MD in Gynaecology and Ayurveda with 11 years of experience, sparking Gynoveda's creation. The team spent three painstaking months formulating a set of 20 questions that could accurately assess menstrual health issues using MenoBot, an AI-enabled period testing system. This diligence ensured an impressive 85% accuracy rate, validated by over 60,000 women globally. They built credibility through effective marketing and educational campaigns, and a name for their informative content on PCOS and Yoga. Their comprehensive support hotline for women's health concerns MyGynie offers holistic care. Gynoveda’s sources the highest quality ingredients and follows rigorous formulation and packaging processes. Dedicated to scientific validation and evidence-based practice, their clinical trials and studies are extensive, with some findings published in the European Journal of Pharmaceutical and Medical Research. Gynoveda's community-centric approach flourished brought in over 1000 personal case studies in their Facebook community, with many women sharing candid video reviews. Initially bootstrapped, Gynoveda secured $10 million in Series A funding from India Alternatives Fund, along with Wipro and RPG Ventures, validating their mission of democratizing Ayurvedic solutions for women's health.     Doesn’t everyone have at least one pair of shoes (if not more) that cost them a bomb, but leave their feet sore if not blistered, even when worn for short periods? Velocity’s Founder Spotlight this month shines on Taran Chhabra , founder and CEO, Neeman's Shoes. In December 2018, 38 years old Chhabra left a successful career in data analytics in the U.S. to launch Neeman's Shoes, India's first sustainable home-grown footwear brand. Chhabra's frustration with existing footwear options led him to own 200 pairs of shoes, and still set out on a quest to create his own solutions which prioritized comfort. As well as sustainability and eco-friendliness. With a Masters in Computer Science, Chhabra had spent the previous decade working as a "data geek" in New York. The daily challenge of wearing uncomfortable formal shoes to work and the lack of suitable casual options sparked his entrepreneurial journey. A pivotal moment came when he misplaced a travel case containing five pairs of shoes, prompting him to delve deeper into what makes a truly comfortable shoe. Chhabra questioned the industry's reliance on synthetic materials and explored natural fibers that minimize environmental impact. Neeman's, named after Chhabra's parents Neelam and Manjeet, uses sustainably-sourced merino wool as its primary fabric. The company also incorporates innovative eco-friendly materials like castor bean oil, recycled rubber for soles, and recycled waste paper for packaging. Since its launch, Neeman's has grown rapidly, resonating with consumers and selling 70-80 pairs of shoes per month, with a 20% monthly growth rate. The brand offers unisex casual wear priced between ₹699 to ₹4,999, available through its website and major e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, and Myntra. Chhabra has introduced novel materials in the Indian footwear market, such as using recycled tires for flip flops and recycled PET bottles for sneakers. The company claims that each pair of ReLive Knits is made from eight PET bottles, and they have recycled more than 1 million plastic bottles for this sustainable collection. In 2022, Chhabra was featured in the prestigious Fortune 40 under 40 list of founders in India who have built impactful businesses, underscoring his entrepreneurial success and Neeman's impact in disrupting the industry with its sustainable approach. Having raised $6.49 million in funding, Neeman's is now setting its sights on expansion. Chhabra states, "We have cracked the material code and we have plans to launch formal shoe wear and sportswear," emphasizing that sustainability doesn't come at the cost of design and aesthetics.
