It has been a great pleasure participating in the cultural exchange program by Teach For Kenya and Teach for Portugal. As an alumna of TFK it was a great pleasure getting to learn more about the mentors in Portugal even as we learnt more art for mental wellness courtesy of #Artvista. Thanks to GRAMOJOY PRE & PRIMARY SCHOOL for giving me the opportunity to continue with my capstone project even after the fellowship. cc Stand Out 4 Mental Health

Art therapy is a powerful tool for enhancing the mental well-being of children. By engaging in creative expression, kids can explore their emotions, develop coping skills, and improve their self-esteem. Art therapy provides a safe space for them to process their feelings and experiences in a non-verbal way, which can be particularly beneficial for those who find it difficult to articulate their thoughts. On Friday,#Artvista hosted a remarkable event at Gramo Joy Pre and Primary school that brought together children,#TeachforPortugal, and Teach For Kenya to celebrate the intersection of art and mental wellness. This event highlighted the importance of creative outlets in promoting emotional health and fostering a sense of community. Through collaborative art projects and workshops, participants(learners and teachers alike) experienced the therapeutic benefits of art, building connections and understanding across cultures. Events like these underscore the vital role of art therapy in supporting the mental health of young minds.

Leaving a succession plan is not always easy. Lately, I have been thinking a lot about developing students as leaders. We started a #tech club which allows students be curious about the #digital space, learn about the advances in #edtech and mentor each other for growth. It has been a slow process as we have had to start with building foundational digital literacy skills. I'm happy seeing students taking initiative of their learning journey and taking the leap to impact others with what they have learnt. #digitalliteracy #teachforkenya #teachingascollectiveleadership #studentleaders

‼️CAUTION‼️If it is wet, sticky and not yours,... it's time to glove up! so what's the right way to wear gloves? Maybe these members of 'SIHA WELLNESS CLUB' will show you how. Thanks to Joseph Mwaura from Kenya Red Cross these learners also got to learn how to handle nose bleeds, chocking and tying bandages. At 'SIHA', we are WELL. #Teach For Kenya #qualityeducation

At Gramo Joy Pre and Primary, Friday afternoons come alive with the laughter and energy of our young learners. Each week, our spacious community playground transforms into a vibrant arena of sports activities, where every child eagerly participates. This tradition started with the simple belief that outdoor play is the language of children—a universal mode of expression that speaks to their innate need for exploration, creativity, and social interaction. Imagine a typically reserved student in the classroom who blossoms on the field. With a soccer ball at their feet, they communicate effortlessly, forming bonds and learning teamwork. Through play, these students develop essential motor skills, resilience, and a sense of fair play. Outdoor activities also provide a natural platform for experiential learning, fostering problem-solving abilities and boosting confidence. Our sports afternoons are not just about physical exercise; they are a cornerstone of wholesome child development. Here, children learn to navigate social dynamics, express themselves freely, and build physical strength—all critical components for their overall growth. At Gramo Joy, we believe that every sprint, jump, and game played on the play ground contributes to molding well-rounded individuals. We are proud to nurture not just the minds but also the bodies and spirits of our students, ensuring they grow into healthy, happy, and balanced adults. Outdoor play isn't just fun—it's a vital part of childhood development, and we see its benefits unfold every Friday on our playground. #GramoJoy #ChildDevelopment #OutdoorPlay #SportsActivities #HolisticEducation #HealthyKids #PlayToLearn #ChildhoodDevelopment #Teamwork #PhysicalEducation #ExperientialLearning #HappyHealthyKids

At Gramo Joy Pre and Primary, we believe in nurturing the holistic development of our students through creativity, imagination, real-time practice, and the "I do, we do, you do" model of learning. This dynamic approach empowers our learners to thrive in an ever-changing world. By fostering creativity and imagination, we encourage our students to think outside the box and develop unique solutions to problems. Real-time practice ensures they apply their knowledge effectively, bridging the gap between theory and practice. The "I do, we do, you do" model is particularly impactful, as it allows us to guide students through new concepts, collaborate with them, and ultimately support their independent learning journey. These methodologies have significantly enhanced our students' problem-solving and critical thinking skills. They are more confident, innovative, and prepared to face future challenges. Our classrooms are buzzing with excitement and curiosity, as children explore new ideas and take ownership of their learning. Key highlights include improved academic performance, increased engagement, and the development of essential life skills. We are proud to see our students grow into well-rounded individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also creative, resilient, and collaborative. Meanwhile enjoy this video of our grade threes as they work together to create photomontages of various things. #Education #Creativity #Imagination #RealTimeLearning #ProblemSolving #CriticalThinking #IDoWeDoYouDo #GramoJoy #FutureLeaders #HolisticDevelopment #InnovativeLearning Teach For Kenya Teach For All
