Do they have cocktail onions?
A:
If I remember correctly, a martini with a cocktail onion is a Gibson. And yes, Joe’s will have cocktail onions.

I continue to enjoy coming here with my family and friends year after year. Food is always great and the service is exceptional. I recommend saving room for a slice of pie at the end of the meal too.
On a recent visit during lunch, we brought our baby for the first time and the staff was so helpful and accommodating. They checked in our stroller for us in coat check and already had the car seat sling ready at our table. Coming in at lunch time on a Sunday also helped the experience because the restaurant was not packed yet so we had plenty of space from other tables.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1Dec 12, 2010Previous reviewI've had two lovely visits here with family. Frilly interior, yet polite, casual demeanor seen throughout this place. Spacious arrangement of tables. Diners ranged from the old to the very young. Food is full of flavor..I loved the mushrooms and calamari for appetizers. However, I didn't like the little lake accumulating in my steakhouse salad. It was so water-y! Other than that, I loved everything else. The peanut butter pie was the best too! It was yummy, and totally bearable; not like pies that are so rich & sweet you have to sip water after every bite :P

The oysters were awesome, both varieties were eastern but one was sweeter than the other. I had the Chilean bass which was grilled perfectly with sauce to perfection. The sweet potatoes and sautéed mushrooms were an excellent addition. I would be dismissive if I did not to mention the excellent service that Rob provided, he was attentive and anticipated what we needed. My husband had scallops that were really good as well. We shared a raspberry sorbet which you must NOT miss, really. Sorry I do not have pictures but it was all gone so soon :-)

We enjoyed an amazing dinner last night at Joe's. Fabian and the team hosted our party of 60+ staff and business partners flawlessly. The food and service were fantastic and you can't beat the ambiance at Joe's! Highly recommend the salmon but all our entrees were prepared well and served hot. Finished the evening with the apple pie.
Thx for a great evening, we will definitely be back.

What a great restaurant! Has a very old school look, servers in bow tie tuxedo kind of place. Packed on a Wednesday. Crab leg apps, steaks, fish, fried chicken specialty.
The line caught king salmon is fantastic. The roasted corn side is sweet and succulent.
Service is professional to the hilt. All orders drop at the same time. Drinks refilled immediately including water. Table blade cleaned.
Want top shelf, this is your place.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jul 23, 2024
Every time I enter this place I am always surprised with how pleasant of an experience I have. It seems stuffy--white tablecloths and such but it never is.
This last experience was nice. I went with a group of my friends and we shared apps, sides, and had individual entrees. We were recommended some great ones by our server and could not have been more pleased. I ate the salmon as usual and it's so good!!
The desserts are worth it so you better leave room for them! I didn't know I liked key lime pie until I had theirs.
Of course I only take a photo of the crab cake because it's my favorite thing.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Aug 8, 2024
I can't visit Chicago without dining at Joe's! It's just everything.
The food is amazing. The service is amazing and I love the vibe of the restaurant. I can't wait to come back!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 17, 2024
Our first stop during our week-long stay in Chicago, and it set the bar high! The seafood was outstanding, especially the lobster--absolutely delicious. The steak, while flavorful, was slightly overcooked (we ordered medium, but I think medium-rare would have been perfect). The service, however, was wonderful and made for a great dining experience!

I haven't been to Joe's in a long time and wow did I miss it! Parking can be tricky- its downtown Chicago- they do have valet and there are parking garages around. This place is always really really busy so I recommend a reservation. Even with a reservation you are likely to wait 10-25 minute in the bar area to be seated. We were lucky to get a bar table while we waited about 30 min for our 6:30pm Friday reservation. Even with that said the food and service is 5 stars!!
The atmosphere is old school steak house- like supper club. Its business casual to dressy- although they will let people in with sports gear. They are known for their stone crab, which is hand picked 1 claw at a time and thrown back into the ocean. How can you not get a round for the table? Its buttery soft chunks of meat paired with their mustard sauce. We also requested drawn butter. Additionally, we did calamari for the table which also was great! Two dipping sauces- cocktail and tartar.
We all got different mains, but sides to split. Most of the mains do not come with sides. We got filet mignion, sockeye salmon, branzino, and fried shrimp! All very good- lots of flavor! The steak came out with a side of seasoning! The salmon was so fresh! The branzino had lots of fresh lemon mint flavor! The fried shrimp was lightly breaded and very flavorful!
For the sides we got Jennie's Mashed Potatoes, Macncheese and Green Beans. All were good, but the fresno chilis in the greens beans were a nice touch! Joe's is also known for its homemade pie. We got half slices- yes the ones pictured are "half" slices! We got Peanut Butter and Boston Cream. They both were good, but Peanut Butter was better!! It had so much flavor- highly recommend! Also make sure to try the raisin bread crisps in the basket!! Amazing Overall experience 5/5Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 17, 2024Updated review
Safe to say it's one of my favorite chains I've dined twice in last 30 days, largely due to the bone in halibut seasonal offering. Service is routinely stellar but I do find it frustrating on occasion that the wait time with a reservation is often 10+ minutes, which is problematic if you're on a tight timeline. I've never dined in the bar area, but it keeps a crowd and is a great option without a reservation.
Another favorable aspect of dining here is that they're a Lettuce Entertain You Restaurant so you can earn rewards when you dine. For every $140 you spend with LEY, you earn $10 in rewards.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0Mar 31, 2020Previous reviewTAKE OUT SERVICE:
I highly recommend their take out service. While the menu was limited during the second week of the Chi- quarantine , the items that were available certainly exceeded our expectations.
Our decision to order takeout was after losing a long held reservation thanks to COVID-19. We moved ahead with our dinner plans minus the dine in fanfare as to celebrate a birthday and was ratheer blown away by the presentation, preparation and labeling on the takeout items. We ordered a few sides, 12oz Filet, Salmon Au Poirve, crab cakes and seafood salad. The salad was boxed in a manner which was perfect for left overs. The seafood and dressing were boxed separate, as wAs the case for the crab cake which was accompanied by a delicious sauce to add flavor. The filet's packaging included oven reheat label instructions with a special note to suggesting one refrain from using the microwave.
Every item we ordered was without question just as flavorful and memorable as eating inside the restaurant in the middle of the hustle and bustle of a room full of other diners and wait staff. - Yuni F.Los Angeles, CAAug 27, 2024
I expected a little more for the price even if I went at happy hour. The bread basket was kind of stale and the oysters were super tiny. The crab cake was small, too. Service was good though. The Caesar salad was all right. Maybe I should've gone for dinner.
