Biography

James is a US correspondent, reporting across North America.

Before moving to Washington DC, he was Sky News’ Scotland bureau chief. Among the stories he has covered at Sky are the 1998 World Cup, 2014 independence referendum and controversies surrounding Donald Trump’s golf courses.

James was part of the Sky News team that won a BAFTA for coverage of the Glasgow Airport terrorist attack in 2007 and his final job in Scotland before moving to the US was covering the death of Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral.

Since being posted in the United States, he has reported on a breadth of stories, including the demise of Death Row in California and disputes over Native American land. He has anchored Sky coverage of Trump’s criminal convictions and is now on his second US election.

James started his career in 1987 as a news and sports reporter for Metro Radio station in Newcastle upon Tyne, and he has also worked at Independent Radio News and was the chief reporter for Scottish Television.
