The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Energy Savings Program (RESP) offers no-interest loans to rural electric cooperatives and other eligible borrowers to capitalize on-bill financing programs. Since RESP was established by the 2014 Farm Bill, 43 rural electric cooperatives and others have secured more than $500 million for on-bill financing programs. And for each program, installing cost-effective energy efficiency, beneficial electrification, and clean energy measures saves people money. Now, for the first time, we have the data to prove that RESP also creates jobs in rural areas. According to a new economic analysis, this program has created almost 700 net jobs in rural areas through 2023 and is on track to sustain about 15,000 by 2040. PFAS (perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances) are often referred to as "forever chemicals," but they could just as easily be known as "everywhere chemicals." These chemical substances are detectable in the body fluids of at least 97% of Americans, and they can be found in at least 200 different use categories and applications. Many of these products are things that we use daily, like dental floss (but we're not saying you shouldn't floss!). While the health effects of forever chemicals are still being explored, evidence suggests that they can cause health issues. Save 🔖 and share ↪ this graphic with examples of everyday items that could possibly be exposing you to PFAS. If you want to learn more about PFAS, our newest issue brief examines their current extent of contamination, public health impacts, regulatory landscape, and more: https://lnkd.in/e4eEuSwW #PFAS #ForeverChemicals #PublicHealth #Pollution #DrinkingWater

According to Senator Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), "We can’t get done what needs to get done on climate without carbon dioxide removal…it is very plausible to me that if we figure out a way to capture the carbon dioxide that has already been emitted, that we will be much more likely to meet our goals than if we don’t." We are so grateful to Sen. Bennet for providing his valuable time and insights to our briefing on carbon dioxide removal! If you aren’t watching already, you can still tune in at eesi.org/livecast
