In just a few days, Hake’s Auctions will open their premier Auction #241 which is filled with 2,120 lots of Americana and pop culture collectibles. Hake’s will offer a major comic key, rare and high grade Star Wars toys, an eclectic selection of original comic art, vintage political memorabilia, and baseball items that are over 100 years old. The auction opens for bidding on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, and it will close on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 30-31.

Comic books are topped by Captain America #1 CGC 5.5 with the origins and debuts of Captain America and Bucky, and the first appearance of Red Skull. The original comic art includes Alex Ross’ cover creation of Amazing Fantasy #15 that he made for Hero Illustrated #6, Sam Kieth’s Marvel Comics Presents #99 original cover featuring Ghost Rider, and Walt Simonson’s Shadow Cabinet #0 original cover for the first full appearance of Shadow Cabinet.

Hake’s will continue their streak of presenting impressive Star Wars rarities like the Meccano Luke Skywalker 20-back (French square card back) AFA 80 Y-NM, which is the single highest graded example. The Star Wars Action Figures 1978 Bell Hanger advertising sign AFA 95 featuring Boba Fett comes with the original shipping carton and hardware. The Empire Strikes Back Boba Fett sample card with a Princess Leia (Boushh disguise) 48-back-A AFA 75 salesman’s sample is the only known example.

The hard to find Star Wars action figures are joined by an LJN/Rainbow Toys Europe ThunderCats figure of Thunderwings Lion-O deluxe AFA 80. It is the single highest graded example.

Baseball takes a big swing with a 1910 PC805 Novelty Cutlery postcard of Honus Wagner PSA 1.5. The 1881 Troy (NY) Trojans team cabinet card features Hall of Famers Buck Ewing, Roger Connor, Tim Keefe, and Mickey Welch.

The big ticket political material is focused on campaign items like the 1896 McKinley and Hobart riding bicycle to the White House button Hake #8 and the Hughes & Fairbanks furled flag jugate button Hake #59.
