Titan Comics; $6.99

While they still have a bit of tweaking to do to get fully accustomed to black and white printing on cheaper paper, the folks at Titan are well on their way to recreating the feel of getting the original Savage Sword of Conan back in the day. The material in the first issue was tremendous, but the printing was a bit off; it’s now almost spot on, and it certainly doesn’t get in the way of enjoying the stories.

I have no idea how Conan purists will react to the lead story by writer Frank Tieri and Conan veteran Cary Nord, but it is a tremendously entertaining tale that goes in a direction I’ve never seen a Conan story go. Tremendous action, great art, and a great ending.

It’s wonderful to see Nord on Conan, again. His tenure on the color title in its days at Dark Horse remains a benchmark for modern Conan stories.

The issue also includes the concluding chapter of Patrick Zircher’s Soloman Kane three-parter, a look at John C Hocking's novel, Conan: City of the Dead, and a silent Conan story from writer-artist Alan Quah.

All in all, another great issue.
