McDonald’s is running a manga promotion inspired by the isekai genre that sends characters to parallel worlds. One of the things commonly seen in those otherworld anime and manga titles is the WcDonald’s.

McDonald’s is introducing the Savory Chili WcDonald’s dipping sauce featuring the golden arches turned upside down on the packaging. The WcDonald’s theme carries over to employee uniforms, and manga on to-go bags and wrappers.

Anime shorts and manga chapters will be available on the McDonald’s website and in the app on a weekly basis now through March 24, 2024. The stories will follow characters as they compete in races or travel to other worlds in search of the sauce for their WcNuggets. The art is illustrated by Acky Bright and animated by Studio Pierrot.

The campaign was developed through a partnership between McDonald’s and Japanese animation firm Studio Pierrot, and Bright, the daughter of the studio’s founder.

“During the campaign, the WcDonald’s logo and the characters are going to take over our stores,” McDonald’s Senior Marketing Director Guillaume Huin said. “This campaign is another example of the brand’s commitment to ‘share the pen’ with fans and celebrate the cultures we’ve been a part of organically. Seeing the anime world take over our 13,500 stores is something I cannot wait for.”
