[#TechyReport] On-device AI: Better Privacy and Efficiency ??   Apple's introduction of on-device AI capabilities marks a significant different approach in both user privacy and technological performance. By prioritizing local processing and user feedback, instead of focusing on heavy server based backend computational model.   At the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple introduced "Apple Intelligence," a groundbreaking AI system integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. This system includes advanced AI models designed to on-device to improve everyday tasks such as writing, summarizing notifications, and creating playful images. [#Highlights] On-Device vs. Server Models Apple has developed two main AI models—a ~3 billion parameter model that runs directly on your device, and a larger model operating on Apple’s private cloud. The on-device model is particularly crucial as it allows for real-time processing, enhancing speed and efficiency. By handling tasks locally, it ensures that users experience minimal delay and maximum responsiveness, which is especially important for applications that require immediate feedback. Privacy and Efficiency: One of the major advantages of on-device processing is enhanced privacy. Since data is processed locally, it doesn’t need to be sent to external servers, significantly reducing the risk of data breaches and ensuring user confidentiality. This approach aligns with Apple’s strong commitment to user privacy and data protection. Adaptability and Performance The models are highly adaptable, utilizing special adapters to fine-tune and specialize for various tasks without altering the core model. This means that while the foundational knowledge remains intact, the models can quickly adjust to new tasks, providing users with a seamless and personalized experience. Human-Centric Evaluation Apple places a strong emphasis on human feedback to ensure that their models are not only efficient but also helpful and provide high data privacy. By focusing on real-world performance and user experience, Apple ensures that their AI tools meet high standards of safety and effectiveness.   Do you think all the millions of iPhones out there can replace gigawatts datacentre? • [#MarketDynamics] [#India] In the first half of 2024, India data centers experienced significant growth, with the total IT capacity increasing by 21% (YoY), data centers added approximately 71MW of capacity during H1-2024. This growth builds on the momentum from 2023 when the country’s data center capacity grew by approximately 255 MW, this is expected to continue with projections at a rate of 25-30% annual growth in the coming years. Current Market Trend: · #Mumbai remains the dominant market holding over 54% of the total capacity, as this city is known for its role as the financial capital of India. · #Chennai follows with more than 12% of the capacity, leveraging its strategic position on the East Coast. · #Bangalore, #Pune, and #Hyderabad together account for over 30% of the market share, these locations are also expected to see significant growth in the coming years. In the remaining months of 2024, demand is projected to reach 400 MW, indicating a 14.28% shortfall compared to the expected supply. This demand was mainly driven by hyperscalers, Banking, Financial Service and Insurance (BFSI), IT & ITeS, and service sectors. This significant growth is driving an increasing demand in the workforce for the data center industry. NV5 Data Centre & Mission Critical India’s experience mirrors this trend – our team in India grew 20% in the last year, with the addition of the Hyderabad office and the expansion of the Bangalore office. • [#MarketUpdate] The US private equity group Blackstone is set to acquire Sydney-based data center business AirTrunk in a multibillion-dollar deal, banking on the growth of cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Founded in 2016, AirTrunk has rapidly expanded to 11 data centers, including a new facility outside Tokyo, driven by Japan's growing digital demand. If completed, this deal would be Australia's largest transaction this year, with Blackstone competing against a consortium including Silver Lake and DigitalBridge. Macquarie and PSP Investments acquired an 88% stake in AirTrunk in 2020, underscoring the bet on AI's growth. Additionally, AustralianSuper invested $2.5 billion in Europe Vantage Data Centers last year. Currently, neither AirTrunk nor Blackstone have commented on the deal.
