𝗕𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 "𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗘𝗥 𝗕𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗡𝗭𝗔"   🏀 Alongside notions like getting in the flow and staying in the zone, part of sports psychology is that sport helps with psychology. The crew on this Synergy-managed bulk carrier have certainly embraced that message, regularly gathering to play basketball on an enclosed and unconventional but perfectly adequate court laid out in a safe space. Bespoke shirts and a banner were made ashore, and as pictured these take their proud place beneath Group logo backboards when inventive and contented mariners come together for further teamwork.   Whether you are a Jordan, Magic, Kareem, Bird, Kobe, LeBron, Curry or Second Engineer Mehedi Hasan Sagar and his teammates here, there is exercise, bonding and fun to be had in shooting baskets. All on board are much better for it, with increased heart rates and decreased stress levels, as this crew-made sport facility provides recreation and enhances both physical and mental well-being. #WeAreSynergy #MentalHealthMatters #CrewWellness #PhysicalWellbeing #ShipManagement #Maritime #ShipsAndShipping

We are pleased to announce that during the ceremony held yesterday, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) acknowledged the search and rescue efforts of two Synergy-managed vessels: the "IBERIAN BULKER" and the "WHITE STAR." Presented by MPA Chief Executive Mr Eng Dih Teo, the "IBERIAN BULKER" received the Award for Outstanding Contribution to Search and Rescue Efforts in 2023 for its SAR operation on 9 January, which saved nine lives in the Straits of Florida. The MPA will also issue Letters of Appreciation to the crew and their Captain at the time, Rakesh K. Singh. There was also a Letter of Commendation for Outstanding Contribution to Search and Rescue Efforts in 2023 for the 7 June SAR operation conducted by the "WHITE STAR," under the leadership of Captain Angelito D. Batausa, which assisted a drifting pleasure craft off the Dominican Republic. Captain Rakesh K. Singh commenced his next tour of duty over the weekend, so was unable to attend the ceremony, but he said “I was scheduled to attend, but after sailing for 31 years the call of the high seas is still stronger than anything else. I would like to thank the MPA for this honour and recognition, which reflects the skill, dedication and professionalism demonstrated daily by my 26,000 Synergy seagoing colleagues worldwide.” The Award was humbly received on behalf of the crew by Captain Yatin Rawal, Senior Superintendent, QHSE. 📸 Photo Credit: Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore #WeAreSynergy #MaritimeSafety #SafetyAtSea #MaritimeIndustry #Shipsandshipping #OurPeopleMakeTheDifference

Part of a worldwide team, Captain Rajeshkumar Singh, Chief Engineer Piyush Mishra, and the crew on the "GLEN COVE" are members of the Synergy family, which today joyfully celebrates India's Independence Day, marking 77 years of self-determination, decades of growth and a central position on the global stage. A source of pride for a nation and on a map, the concept of independence is also vital on board a chemical tanker and in a line plan, where colour-coded demarcation helps maintain crucial cargo segregation. Captain Singh and his crew have embodied these notions by marking three adjacent lines with the Indian tricolour as part of a highly original rendering of the national flag, proudly displayed by the crew. Synergy Marine Group wishes the "GLEN COVE" and her crew, our many valued Indian seafarers and shore-based colleagues, the broader Indian maritime community and all those celebrating a Happy Independence Day. Jai Hind. #WeAreSynergy

𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗳𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗮𝘆 🌱 On this World Biofuel Day the Synergy Marine Group reaffirms its dedication to the decarbonisation of global supply chains in shipping. “We recently completed the B100 biofuel bunkering of our managed capesize “NORD STEEL” in Singapore, and while of course such fuels are encouragingly and increasingly common in our industry, this achievement underscores our ongoing commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmental sustainability. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to DS NORDEN for their unwavering support and guidance”, said Saikat Sen Gupta, MD Synergy Copenhagen A/S. This successful bunkering operation also highlights the practical feasibility of high-blend biofuels, like B100, as alternative fuels. Derived from renewable sources such as used cooking oil or other agricultural waste products, biofuels play a crucial role in the maritime industry’s efforts to mitigate its environmental impact and map out a cleaner pathway. World Biofuel Day, observed every August 10, is in fact partly to commemorate Rudolf Diesel’s own pioneering experiment with peanut oil as long ago as 1893, which laid the foundation for alternative fuel sources. This year’s theme, which is "Sustainable Biofuels : Reducing Waste, Feeding Energy," aligns perfectly with our mission to adopt renewable energy sources and support a circular economy. Reflecting on our efforts, our Co CEO Ship Management, Ajay Chaudhry, said ”This frontier project yet again proves that a cleaner shipping industry is within our reach. Biofuels are a key element along our path to decarbonising shipping and establishing a truly sustainable sector. As technical thought partners to our customers we are integral to this transition, influencing technological, operational and human elements.” Our efforts in using sustainable biofuels have prevented 85.93% of GHG emissions across more than a dozen ships since 2021, compared to traditional fuels. This equates to a reduction of over 10,000 tonnes of CO2, calculated on a Well-to-Wake basis, setting a significant precedent in our commitment to sustainable shipping - all achieved without requiring engine or fuel infrastructure modifications. Captain Swaminathan Hari Co CEO, concluded “This World Biofuel Day we acknowledge the progress in biofuel adoption within the maritime industry, where biofuels now make up over 1.5% of the marine fuel market, and this is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 7-9% through 2030. At Synergy Marine Group we remain committed to continual learning and improvement, ensuring that our efforts in crew training and operational excellence contribute meaningfully to the industry’s environmental goals.”   Join us in our journey towards a sustainable future. 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆   This shipping industry collaboration is to address onboard accidents, and specifically fatalities due to entering enclosed spaces. OCIMF (Oil Companies International Marine Forum) kindly hosted the first such gathering in February this year and also the second one on 8 July, and this was attended in person and remotely by a wide variety of industry stakeholders. The group included representatives of P & I clubs, Government marine investigators and shipowners as part of very broad expertise in tackling the long-standing problems associated with enclosed space entry.   The Synergy Marine Group presence was Synergy Denmark A/S Managing Director Umesh Shinde and Peter Hawkin, our QHSE Group Director, and as captured below the discussions included in-depth consideration of all the various elements, such as design of access, mandatory training requirements, human factors and industry guidance, all working towards developing an action plan not just to lessen but to wholly prevent enclosed space fatalities. #SafetyFirst #Maritime #WorkplaceSafety #HSE #QHSE #IndustryColloboration #OccupationalSafety #OilandGas

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼, 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Over the next eight months, we will be posting a mixed variety of the top photo, essay and video entries in our 2024 competition. This will be monthly, starting in August, and we look forward to showcasing many from a large number of very high-quality submissions. We introduce this anthology with an essay on The blue economy - trade allied to conservation, which asked our seafarers to discuss what more the shipping industry could do to help preserve marine life. This is by Second Engineer Naznin Shamim on the "HAFNIA PHOENIX''. Amid a strong competing field, it did not win one of the prizes, but it was nevertheless highly commended for the way it handled the very important topic of whale strikes and how to avoid them. Several essays touched on this, but none with the same level of insight, and nobody can read this and doubt that 2E Shamim feels very strongly about the titans of maritime commerce colliding with the leviathans of our oceans. 𝗦𝗜𝗥𝗘 𝟮.𝟬 The Synergy Marine Group has been very active in preparing for SIRE 2.0. Two of our managed Chevron TC vessels, the “SAKURA VOYAGER'' and the “BLUE BUTTERFLY”, recently completed inspections under this upcoming regime.  These are part of industrywide trials before rollout from 2 September and are among over a dozen that we have undertaken, all working closely with oil majors like Chevron, BP, Shell and Ampol. To ensure full familiarisation with the new requirements, as for all trials we meticulously prepared the vessels and their crew, this time under the expert command of Captains Achuthan and Nitin Dua, and many shore-based staff were likewise trained in seeking what proved to be complete success. For the “SAKURA VOYAGER” the team included Captain Sachin Bagga (DPA) and Mr. Madhan (TSI), with Captain Dipan (MSI) also involved for the “BLUE BUTTERFLY”. All thus gained first-hand experience of the inspection process, and an identical proactive and close-up approach with the other SIRE 2.0 trials is proving highly beneficial in reinforcing both seafarer and shore confidence in being ready for when the new provisions come in. Capturing them, together with the learning gained from the trials, we are also developing our own SIRE 2.0 preparatory and familiarisation tool, a web and app-based device that can easily be accessed both at sea and ashore. Ship and shore already have OCIMF guidance for each question, with all applicable SMS and PMS component references handily mapped and all previous VIQ 7 observations categorised under hardware, process or human PIF, and before each inspection the crew verify readiness with a ship-specific checklist prepared by the superintendents, all after final checks on all core matters and any defects previously identified. Very much more crew-focussed, SIRE 2.0 is more exacting but more rewarding, with several enhanced safety measures. These integrate human factors as part of focussing on a risk-based approach, and so achieve a more comprehensive and objective assessment, and several new features allow operating companies to proactively identify potential risks and mitigate them promptly.
