Strange Sightings: 3 Incidents That Suggest Alien Life

Ladies and gentlemen, today is #WorldUFODay. To celebrate, we’re exploring unexplained phenomena as discussed in The 37th Parallel, that suggest the possibility of UFOs or alien life. What do you believe?

1. “Liuetenant, are you seeing what I’m seeing?

During World War II, several pilots reported seeing small spheres of light flying near or beside them. Initially thought to be secret weapons from the opposing side, this bizarre phenomenon of strange light named “Foo Fighters” was never solved. Many have attributed these glowing balls of light to alien life.

2. Ten thousands incidents.

In Rush, Colorado in 2010, the owner of a fifty-acre cattle-and-horse ranch found two of her horses dead and mutilated with no evidence as to what possibly could have happened. No footprints. No signs of defensive resistance from the horses. Nothing at all. Even more terrifying, incidents like this had been going on for more than fifty years. Various explanations have been offered ranging from cults to secret military agencies and two independent federal investigations have occurred in the United States. This phenomenon has yet to be explained.

3. 1947 Roswell Incident

The Roswell UFO incident refers to an event in mid 1947, when a United States Air Force surveillance balloon crashed at a ranch near Roswell, New Mexico, prompting claims alleging the crash was of an extraterrestrial spaceship.

The Weirdest Trees in the World

image

It’s #EarthDay! To celebrate, we’re taking a look at one of Earth’s most unusual (and fascinating) inhabitants: Baobab trees.

Baobab trees look very strange. Few plants on Earth are more unusual than these tall, bare, puffy-topped trees. There are actually nine different types of baobab tree, and some of them have pretty special adaptations for their habitats.

The baobabs of Madagascar are the most famous type of this tree. They are bare for almost their entire height before popping out leafy branches at the top. Their small home is a popular place for people to visit and snap pictures.

An African species is known as the dead-rat tree, as people thought that the hanging fruit looked like dead rodents. They are also sometimes called monkey-bread trees, as monkeys sometimes eat the squishy fruit from this type of tree.

Fun fact: In South Africa, one baobab tree is so big that people can stay inside it. A room and a tiny restaurant were built in and around the tree, located in a town called Modjadjiskloof.
