Seaspray is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Earth's ocean: an immense and drastically variable desert made of water, which hides a menagerie of the largest, the smallest, and the strangest creatures on the planet. Sunk in its dark and trackless depths lie ancient and forgotten relics, mingled with the spoils and remains of Man. This ocean, this vast mystery, is Seaspray's element, and he loves it dearly.

The oceans of Earth are not alone in his affections. On any planet, at any time, Seaspray is a consummate sailor. Because he is not very comfortable on land, Seaspray does not do well in ground fighting. On the water, however, he has few equals.

Seaspray was first seen on Earth fighting pirates with Tracks and Cliffjumper when a time warp unleashed a ship full of them on the 20th century. After locating the vessel with his radar, Seaspray helped the other Autobots push the galleon back through the timewarp before it sealed up. Dinobot Island, Part 2 When the Autobots returned from space after a brief exile, Seaspray helped his comrades overpower the Decepticon forces and free the human slaves who had been pressganged in their absence. Megatron's Master Plan, Part 2

He was next seen helping Perceptor and Beachcomber on a geological survey near the coast. When Blitzwing and the Seekers staged a surprise attack, Seaspray engaged Ramjet in battle over open waters. Remarkably, the dim-witted Decepticon tried to ram the Autobot hovercraft and ended up splashing into the briny drink for his troubles. Seaspray got thrown for a loop when Ramjet eventually came back up for air, but still managed to shoot down the Conehead in the end. Thrust's discovery of a nearby electrum pool took away any chance of a fair fight, however, and so Seaspray and Perceptor were captured and taken back to the Decepticon undersea base.

After the entire Decepticon army coated themselves with electrum, Starscream forced the two Autobots to fight to the death for the amusement of his troops. They attempted to escape by blowing a hole in the outer hull, but were caught on the way out by Megatron, who was returning with a third prisoner, Beachcomber. The Autobot geologist later managed to disable their guards, and they shot their way to freedom through a porthole. Using Seaspray's back-mounted propellers, they sped their way to safety and joined up with the rest of the Autobots at the electrum pool. The Golden Lagoon

Working with the New York City police on their Crimebuster program, Seaspray had the unenviable task of patrolling the Hudson River and other waterways. He found nothing useful but sludge and grime. Make Tracks

Why would wouldn't he want to become Fabio?

Out waterskiing with Bumblebee one afternoon, the two Autobots stopped at dusk and Seaspray engaged in an old Earth superstition, wishing on the first star of the evening. He didn't tell Bumblebee what his wish was for, but moments later, they received a garbled distress signal from a distant planet. After conferring with Optimus Prime, they took Perceptor and Cosmos to investigate the signal, only to discover it had been sent by a Decepticon creation known as Deceptitran, requesting aid because his slaves were revolting. The Autobots quickly got involved with the local revolution, and "bubble-head" just as quickly fell head over heels for Alana, one of the human leaders of the rebellion. Thanks to the miraculous Well of Transformation used by her people, the Tlalakans, both Seaspray and Alana were able to experience life in the other's shoes, with him temporarily becoming (mostly) human and her changing into a robot. Deceptitran and his allies were defeated, and Seaspray proved that even a chunky robot with a throat full of mouthwash can find true love. Sea Change

In 2006, Seaspray joined Broadside on a search for Trypticon's remains, only to find the giant Decepticon city had not been permanently destroyed by Metroplex as they had believed. Seaspray picked up a trail, but must have lost it, because it ultimately took Perceptor's separate analysis to locate Trypticon in the Federated Democratic Republic...whatever of Carbombya. Decades later, Alana's homeworld was struck by a terrible drought and Seaspray went on a journey with his girlfriend to locate the Beastformers' Water Gem of Motion and restore the planet. Their search brought them to the Legends World where they found the gem in the possession of the evil Laser Beast Tigerburn, so Seaspray used water from the Well of Transformation to turn Alana into her robot mode for the ensuing battle. Fortunately there was no battle at all, as Tigerburn brought his own doom by stealing Seaspray's water gun and using its contents without understanding the consequences, and the couple safely recovered the Water Gem and began planning for a vacation on Beast. After restoring Tlalakan's water supply, Seaspray, Alana and Bumblebee did go to Beast, showing up during a battle between the Beastformers and Laser Beasts. Seaspray was a member of Perceptor's resistance cell on Cybertron. When their untrustworthy scout, Scrounge went missing, Seaspray and his peers fell in line with Blaster's plan to find him, overruling Perceptor. After learning Scrounge had been captured by Shrapnel, Blaster went alone to the smelting pool to save him, prompting Powerglide to follow and haul him out while Seaspray and the three others distracted the Decepticon guards. Although they were too late to save Scrounge, the cassette he handed Blaster gave Seaspray and the others the first good news they had heard in eons: evidence that Optimus Prime lived. The Smelting Pool! Galvanized by this knowledge, the Autobots planned a daring assault on Lord Straxus, planning to destroy both his seat of power at Darkmount and the new space bridge allowing transit to Earth. Darkmount was destroyed, but the Decepticons interrupted Blaster before he could finish setting the charges on the bridge. Instead, Seaspray, Blaster, and the rest of their unit were chased over the other side, and found themselves stuck on planet Earth. Here they were greeted immediately by a group of humans. Though Megatron and his troops spotted the Autobots upon their materialization on Earth, the Decepticons were distracted by a more pressing mission at the time, and left without attacking the new arrivals. Wheels? So on Cybertron, Seaspray was just more accurate to his toy.

The greeting part of humans belonged to the anti-robot attack team, RAAT. When Seaspray and the other Autobots, unfamiliar with how things worked on Earth, tried to talk to their vehicles, RAAT deployed "electric snow" missiles to disorient them. Seaspray's group was then too dazed to fight back, and were captured with the help of Circuit Breaker. Heavy Traffic! Seaspray and his fellows were disassembled, with their heads getting mounted on the wall of RAAT's headquarters. Aerialbots over America! The Autobots were only released after Circuit Breaker was forced to elicit their aid by combining them into a giant mechanical suit to defeat the Battlechargers. Decepticon Graffiti!

Following Skids back to the Ark, Seaspray and the others got lost after their guide spontaneously vanished into limbo. Even worse was the reason for the disappearance—Galvatron had returned to the present. The crazed future Decepticon casually revealed that he knew Seaspray's name before cleaning his clock, then was forced into retreat by the vagrant Dinobots and Shockwave's troops. Fallen Angel Perceptor's team finally managed to reach the Ark, where they learned of Optimus Prime's apparent demise at the hands of the Predacons. Seaspray attended Prime's funeral and assimilated into Earth's depleted Autobot forces, though it was soon revealed that Prime's death was a ruse. Resurrection!

After Optimus died (for real, this time), Seaspray was among several Autobots who watched on as Ratchet futilely tried to repair his body. Once the Autobot leader was declared irreparable, the Autobots held funeral services for their leader again, and launched his remains into space. Funeral for a Friend! While the Autobots debated over who would lead them next, the Ark came under attack from Trypticon. Sonic scrambler mines launched by the behemoth interfered with the Autobots' motor functions, leaving them easy prey. Seaspray and the others would have likely been reduced to scrap if not for the timely intervention of Grimlock and the Dinobots, who drove off the attacker. King of the Hill!

As Grimlock took over the Autobots, the Dinobot commander focused Autobot resources on repairing their fallen comrades and prepping the Ark to become spaceworthy again. The Autobot craft launched into orbit in pursuit of Blaster, who had been partaking in overtly mutinous behavior. Though the Autobots managed to capture Blaster's spaceship, within it they only found a quartet of small human children and a stuffed bear. In order to draw out his real target, Grimlock put the humans on trial, a procession which Seaspray attended. He was visibly displeased when Grimlock sentenced the kids to death for aiding Blaster, though thankfully another rebel, Sky Lynx, rescued them as they were cast out into the void of space. While Grimlock chased after Sky Lynx, Blaster met with the rest of the Autobots, who begged him to take up leadership himself. But Blaster was forced to give himself up to secure the children's safety, just as Grimlock had planned out initially. Spacehikers!

"All we've got left is THAT jackass."

Blaster wound up fighting Grimlock for leadership of the Autobots on Earth's moon, a duel which Seaspray attended alongside nearly every other Autobot. The proceedings were interrupted by a Decepticon attack, and only by agreeing to a temporary truce did Blaster and Grimlock manage to drive off the attackers, leading the rest of the Autobots side by side. Following the catastrophic Underbase Saga, Seaspray was aboard the Ark, still functional and helping to move damaged Autobots about. The Man in the Machine! He was later off-lined somehow. The Greatest Gift of All!

The Battle for Planet Earth

After a hard day working to repair the Ark, Seaspray and the other Autobots were relaxing watching television when a news story came on revealing that the Decepticons were kidnapping humans. Seaspray suggested that the Decepticons might be aiming to ransom the captives, but Optimus shot down that idea. Bumblebee to the Rescue

Dinobots Strike Back

If Optimus Prime chose Mirage's plan to capture the four cerebro-shell-controlled Dinobots, Seaspray was stationed in the ocean just offshore from Bandit's Bluff, crewed by Ratchet, Sunstreaker, Huffer, Sideswipe, and Bumblebee. Once Mirage's hologram of Optimus Prime tricked them into charging over the cliff and into the sea, his passengers hauled the unconscious quartet aboard for safe transport back to the Ark.

In a different path, Bumblebee and Skids used Wheeljack's new mini-sub to investigate suspicious activity in Dolphin's Bay, requiring Seaspray to later provide aquatic support in four possible subsequent paths. In one, Skids chose to radio him for help when Bumblebee was stuck beneath huge broken columns of coral on the seafloor, which Seaspray carefully cut with his laser from the surface. He then tried to sail his two comrades back to the Ark, only to encounter Starscream as he rounded Sea Lion point. He was only able to fire off a single laser blast before a cluster-bomb blew him to smithereens, sinking any chance of the other Autobots learning about Operation Black Coral in time to stop the Decepticons.

Seaspray fared better if he showed up along with Ratchet in response to losing radio contact with the damaged sub, thanks to Frenzy's sonic attack. Sludge lifted the sunken sub off the ocean floor and onto his deck, where Ratchet was able to repair Skids, who then told them about Operation Black Coral, ensuring an Autobot assault would stop it.

If Skids returned to the Ark without getting the sub trashed, two possible outcomes saw Seaspray participate in a successful attack on the Decepticons' Mount Lomas base, alongside fellow seafarer Topspin. While he didn't do much beyond rendezvousing with Swoop if Prowl's plan was followed, Windcharger's plan saw Topspin take a missile from Skywarp, prompting a barrage of lasers and missiles from an enraged Seaspray. Autobot Alert!

Seaspray was present at the Autobot city of Metroplex when an Autobot Alert sounded.

He and the other Autobots learned of two Decepticon plots simultaneously occurring. One of which was the theft of a coded message meant for Ultra Magnus's eyes only. If Ultra Magnus decided to prioritize theft of the coded message, Seaspray was part of the captive audience that listened to Kup divulge information about an ancient Autobot formula. Seaspray took off towards the Autobots’ desert research centre along with a number of other Autobots. Once there, they learned from Springer that the Cybertite sphere containing the formula was discovered by humans during the 16th century. If the Decepticons had decoded Springer's message, they would be searching off the coast of California, where the ship containing the sphere had sunk. If they hadn't decoded the message, the Decepticons would still be digging in the nearby crater.

If Ultra Magnus decided to assume that the Decepticons had already decrypted the message, he ordered his forces to split up to more efficiently address the situation. Seaspray was part of the main group of Autobot forces led by Ultra Magnus towards the California coast. Arriving at the scene, Ultra Magnus's troops were informed by Powerglide (who had flown ahead of the land-bound group) that he had discovered the location of the sunken ship containing the cybertite sphere. Simultaneously, Blurr caught up with the group to inform them that the Decepticons were quickly approaching. The Autobots then needed to decide whether they would raise the ship themselves, or try and ambush the Decepticons after they had done so.

In one of the possible plans that Ultra Magnus concocted, Seaspray was elected to search for the cybertite sphere while the ship remained underwater. Despite a hostile encounter with a shark, Seaspray managed to safely retrieve the cybertite sphere, and the Autobots returned to base victoriously before the Decepticons ever arrived on-scene.

If Ultra Magnus decided to have his Autobots hide while the Decepticons raised the ship, Seaspray found himself in a cave with Springer and Topspin. The three Autobots spied Devastator retrieving the sunken ship from the water, and decided that the three of them would snatch the sphere away from the Decepticons.

If Springer, Topspin and Seaspray executed their plan to retrieve the sphere from Decepticon clutches, Topspin and Seaspray headed out to sea, then doubled back in order to distract the Decepticons. With the evil robots preoccupied, Springer snatched the cybertite sphere and headed back to Metroplex. Seeing their ally had succeeded in his part of the plan, Seaspray and Topspin retreated out to sea. Autobot Alert!

Dreamwave Generation One continuity

Seaspray was on Cybertron observing the anti-Prime propaganda that Shockwave pumped through the data-net after retrieving the Ark's crew from Earth. Cold War But Seaspray later joined the Autobots working for Smokescreen and Tracks in an insurgency group on Cybertron and helped with rising up and overthrowing Shockwave alongside Optimus Prime and the Ark's crew once they had been freed from Shockwave's prisons. Countdown to Extinction

Later, he was chosen to travel to Earth aboard the starship Orion under Bumblebee's command, only for their supply run to cross paths with the super-clone named Sunstorm. Night of the Combaticons Sunstorm overloaded the Orion with energy, causing it to crash. The Orion's crew walked away from their rough landing unharmed however, and Sunstorm left in pursuit of Starscream. Seaspray and his team set about repairing their ship, and accomplished the task in a few hours. The Autobots were getting ready for some well-earned rest when Starscream returned, now accompanied by Jetfire. Black Sunshine The Autobots found themselves forced into a devil's deal with Starscream in order to protect the Decepticon leader from his crazed clone brother. He did lead them to the Earthbound Autobots he had already disposed of, but then Starscream turned on his Autobot handlers, disabling Seaspray and his fellow soldiers before making his getaway. The Omega Effect Ratchet quickly got them back online, though, and Seaspray began working on the construction of Autobot City. The Route of All Evil

Seaspray was present during the battle for Sherma Bridge on Cybertron, during which both the Autobot and Decepticon troops stopped fighting to watch the first duel between Optimus Prime and Megatron. Chaos Theory #1

Seaspray joined the Autobot forces on Earth at some point after the Decepticon invasion was averted. He arrived alongside Jetfire and Windcharger. Ride-Along He was seemingly captured by Skywatch at sea following this. Seasons in Flight After escaping or getting rescued, he lined up with the rest of the Autobot troops when Ultra Magnus came to investigate their situation. A Rude Awakening

After the war, Seaspray was the production designer for Starscream: The Movie. Starscream: The Movie He and Beachcomber were assigned as guards when Liege Maximo was imprisoned in the Spire. Seaspray didn't think it was a good idea to let Soundwave speak with Maximo when Beachcomber allowed it. Another Mine He and Beachcomber were later seen marching the captive Shockwave through the streets to be imprisoned. Unstopped and Unstoppable Seaspray managed to escape Unicron's destruction of Cybertron, being transported to Earth with the rest of the survivors. Transformers vs. G.I. Joe

After G.I. Joe and the Autobots formed an alliance, they came under assault from both Decepticobra and a rampaging Fortress Maximus. Seaspray was part of a group that went out to retrieve the Joes' animals, already prisoners within Maximus. He, Gung-Ho, and Spearhead infiltrated the titan together. They completed their mission and Fortress Maximus returned to his senses (he had been mind-controlled) allowing the team to make their way to Maximus's head as he tangled with Trypticon. As the two colossi battled, Maximus's head popped off in Trypticon's mouth, transformed into Cerebros, and allowed Seaspray and the others to storm Megatron's throne room housed in the monster's maw. Unfortunately, Megatron was prepared for their arrival and captured them all. Everybody Hates Metroplex Seaspray was loaded up on the Astrotrain and shipped off to the Polyhex Killway, where he and his fellow prisoners were forced to fight one-another for Megatron's amusement. Expelled from the Garden Seaspray was afterwards brought to Scorponok and rendered inert in his vehicle mode. In this form, he was used as a prop in an elaborate facsimile of an American suburb carried on Scorponok's back. The Joes imprisoned in "Springfield" alongside him were brainwashed to believe that their fantastic adventures had never happened... until Scarlett awoke from her hypnotized state and roused the others. They couldn't wake Seaspray and the other Autobots, but made use of them as getaway vehicles to escape from the town. Once outside, Seaspray regained his senses, and transformed to meet Optimus Prime. Headmasters He later participated as Autobots and Joes alike marched towards the final battle with the Decepticon army. Transformers vs. G.I. Joe #12 During the fight, Seaspray and the rest of the Autobots were absorbed into Megatron's "Mega-Megatron" combiner form, but were saved when Shipwreck crashed the Nemesis into the Decepticon leader. A Transformer resembling a particularly dazzling Seaspray was a follower of Primus in the Golden Age. Like his fellows, he dutifully assisted Primus in his efforts to confiscate the Seven Lights from his dissenting army the Primus Vanguard and destroy the universe.

Seaspray was present in the strike team Primus brought to bear against the Powered Masters in an expedition to the year 2050 of the next universe to capture its newly formed, empty Silver Matrix for his patsy Star Convoy. Abominus comic 2

When Star Convoy grew wise to his master's plan, Seaspray helped restrain him as their master personally gathered the last two Star Powers from Megatron Omega and Purple Wicked Convoy. Finale Prelude

Primus's plan went real sideways after that, with Primus being reduced to his diminutive core form Oracle by the onslaught of the behemoth Neo Primus (no relation) and the Seven Lights being captured by malevolent future warrior Gold Megatron and used to create his own seven-part force, the New Primus Vanguard. Realizing the dire nature of the threat, Oracle reversed his orders, and Seaspray and company freed Star Convoy and pooled their Golden Power into him. Seaspray was one of a number of Autobots commanded by Hound who arrived on a battlefield as reinforcements. By Land, Sea, or Air

Seaspray and Waverider were aiding in the evacuation of workers from an off-shore oil platform during a storm. When the Seacons attacked the station in order to steal its oil, the two Autobots were left to face them alone, the storm preventing them from calling for reinforcements. The two Autobot were able to defend the platform until the storm subsided and called for back-up, forcing the Seacons to flee. Deadly Depths

In many ways, Seaspray found his spiritual home on planet Earth, or rather, its oceans.

With no comparable medium on Cybertron, he broke new ground, relishing the newfound freedom of movement and sheer expanse of his territory.

Seaspray was on a special mission to research pure Amethyst crystals in the deepest oceans of Aquatron, but when Octopunch accidentally set off the highly volatile crystals, it drew a school of Sharkticons to attack. The horrendous disaster left him traumatized all the way to Earth, and he kept bemoaning for his mermaid. Premiering in the second year of the Hasbro The Transformers line, Mini Vehicle Seaspray transforms into a hovercraft, seemingly a simplified take on the Winchester class SR.N6. His underside hides tiny wheels so he can "hover" along, plus his twin propellers spin freely. Seaspray continued on into the 1986 Mini Vehicle assortment, with no major changes.

There are some minor changes with the company stamping on the bottom of his mono-foot. He can have either "© Takara 1984 Japan", "© Takara Co. LTD 1984 Japan", or the latter with "© Hasbro 1984" added above it.

In the Takara line, Seaspray was not part of the initial 1985 "pre-movie" series (despite being in the pre-movie cartoon), but premiered in 1986's post-movie Transformers 2010 line. Like all of the smaller toys sold by Takara at the time, he was packaged in a small box and came with a collector's card inside, rather than on a bubble-card.

Generation 2

• Seaspray (Mini Vehicle, 1993)

Seaspray was re-released in Generation 2, with his blue plastics now covered in dark blue chrome, though some samples have been found with purple chrome. A black box with "AUTOBOT" and the Generation 2 Autobot symbol has also been added to his right leg.

A rare variant exists that may have been a test shot run. These figures were apparently given out internally by Hasbro as Christmas ornaments, as they have been found bagged with a string attached and a card reading "Transformers Christmas ornament" on one side and "Merry Christmas from the Boys' Toys Marketing" on the other. The same treatment has been seen with a variant Generation 2 Beachcomber.

Transformers (2010)

From the 2010 Transformers line, Sea Spray transforms into a transport hovercraft with rolling wheels underneath. The rear deck (featuring a fold-down ramp) can carry most Scout class vehicles, though it is intended to be used with Breacher. The Deluxe Class Hailstorm also fits snugly. Sea Spray's turbofans can rotate and tilt at several angles, and feature little fans inside that can spin (only by manual manipulation, as there is no gimmick mechanism linked to them). Sea Spray's harpoon launchers attach on the sides of his air cushion skirt.

In robot mode, Sea Spray's design resembles that of a scuba diver, with a breather mask and "goggles" on his head, details resembling scuba air tanks (actually part of his vehicle mode air cushion) on his back and fold-out flippers on his feet. His harpoon launchers, using 5 mm posts, can be left attached to the underside of his arms as they were in vehicle mode, or placed in his hands. As with other toys in the 2010 line, Sea Spray has C joints, and in this case, it's the silver ladder rungs on his shoulders.

TakaraTomy's release of Sea Spray features more vivid colors in an attempt to match Generation 1 Seaspray. Nearly all of the plastic colors on the TakaraTomy Seaspray are different from the Hasbro version, even the white. Of note is the yellow replacing gold, dark gray replacing light gray, and a more saturated blue replacing the muted blue.

This toy doubles as the Beast Wars: Uprising character Sea Spray. Sea Spray's mold was also used to make Reveal the Shield Deep Dive and Timelines/Shattered Glass Octopunch.

Kre-O

Oh boy. Wonder what happened to Kre-O Breacher to make this happen?

• Autobot Seaspray (Kreon Micro-Changer, 2014)

Part of the sixth regular assortment of blind-bagged Kre-O Micro-Changers, Seaspray is a Kreon minifigure that can be rebuilt into a hovercraft. Oddly, his chest tampograph gives him a Decepticon insignia.

Unlike prior Micro-Changer assortments, this series does not have any sort of identification code for the bags' actual contents, meaning you'd best be good at the feel-though-the-bag method.

This assortment was originally slated to be a Toys"R"Us exclusive, but US stores dropped the line before its release. It was still available in Canada, Australia, and Chinese/Asian markets. In 2015, the Collection appeared in US Dollar Tree stores, with a price tag of a whopping $1 a pop. They didn't last long.

"Autobot Seaspray" is a Kreon with a deco heavily leaning towards the original toy over cartoon styling, up to giving him a visor rather than individual eyes. Like the rest of the set, he uses the almost-totally-retooled 2015 style of Kreon body (making him mostly incompatible with older Kreons).

He was only available in the "Kreon Class of '85" box set of thirty Kreons, a San Diego Comic-Con 2015 exclusive. Leftovers of the set were put up for sale on Hasbro Toy Shop online after the show.

Titans Return

Released in the fifth (and final) wave of the Legends Class assortment of the Titans Return toyline, Seaspray transforms from a robot to hovercraft, inspired by his original Generation 1 toy. His stomach, designed after the chubby tum-tum of his original cartoon model, can detach and be carried around if Seaspray wants to shed a few pounds for a date, although it must be momentarily removed to transform him. Rather than a 5mm peg, the accessory connects via a tab in a slot directly on the figure's forearm. As an undocumented feature, the rear end of Seaspray's vehicle mode can open up to comfortably seat a Titan Master. Both his inner forearms have Alana's name (though spelled "Alanna") engraved in Ancient Autobot.

Seaspray's propellers and the bottom of his Titan Master cockpit are removable for...reasons. Despite the size of his feet, the position of his legs so far forward on his torso means that he can be quite unstable in robot mode, though one can unfold the hovercraft skirts at his heels to give him more balance.

Like the rest of his toyline, Seaspray comes with a collector's card, although strangely it features his hovercraft mode, unlike most of the line's cards which showcase the character's robot mode. Cosmos, his wavemate, also shares this oddity.

Like Cybertron Shortround, there is a toilet fan mode for this toy.

Legends

Legends Seaspray is a cartoon-accurate redeco of Titans Return Legends Class Seaspray. He is also packaged in a two-pack with Lione.

While most of the paint masks are identical from the Hasbro release, Legends Seaspray omits the toy-accurate detailing on the chest, and the white paint on the feet/front section. The shoulders are also applied with yellow paint.

Golden Lagoon

• Beachcomber / Perceptor / Seaspray (Three-pack, November 2018)

Golden Lagoon Seaspray is a gold and gold chrome redeco of Titans Return Seaspray in homage of the original cartoon episode of the same name. Packaged with similar redecos of Titans Return Perceptor and Power of the Primes Beachcomber, this set was released exclusively at TakaraTomy Mall as part of TakaraTomy's celebration of the franchise's 35th anniversary. The set was later rereleased by Hasbro Pulse in the USA in January 2021.

This toy also appeared in Generations Selects Special Comic as a member of the Golden Age, who may or may not be named "Seaspray".

Notes

• Seaspray made an appearance in one of five original Generation 1 public service announcements, urging nautical children to wear life-preservers. In this PSA, he was voiced by Wally Burr rather than Alan Oppenheimer, his usual voice actor. Amazingly, though, Burr managed to nail Oppenheimer's distinctive Seaspray voice.
• Speaking of Alan Oppenheimer, the voice he used for Seaspray was virtually the same as what he used for Mer-Man on the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon. According to Dan Gilvezan in his autobiography "Bumblebee and Me", Oppenheimer would achieve the Seaspray/Mer-Man voice by puffing out his lips and bouncing them up and down with his fingers while speaking. Gilvezan likened it to when an old Looney Tunes character would go insane and start boinging their lips. Needless to say, it constantly cracked up everyone in the recording studio.
• A reference to Seaspray is made in the video game based on the Michael Bay film. Various billboards advertise "Seaspray's Fish 'n' Chips". On the DS Versions, a boat in Tranquility is named U.S.S. Seaspray.
• The 2010 Transformers Sea Spray toy is a bit of a continuity conundrum. He was apparently intended to be this Seaspray according to Hasbro Q&A at the time, but his bio and later fictional appearances suggest otherwise, portraying him alongside live-action film-style characters. In November 2010 however, Hasbro confusingly maintained that he is NOT a movie-verse character.
• Much later, the Earth Wars mobile game based its design for Generation 1 Seaspray on the 2010 toy.
• Transformers Vault mistakenly spells his name Sea Spray.
