The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples 2024 marks 42 years since the UN first met in Geneva to discuss the importance of Indigenous rights. Four decades later, it remains just as vital to appreciate the cultural importance of these groups. Despite making up approx. 5% of the world’s population, Indigenous Peoples account for 15% of the poorest and remain one of the most marginalised groups on the planet. The contribution of these groups to the biodiversity and environmental protection of our planet is essential in safeguarding the future for us all.
