We were so thrilled to have the amazing team from WSP in our Warehouse on Friday. They did an incredible job painting some of our offices ... and this time they got to stay for the whole day! (Last time, we had to evacuate the whole site because of a bomb scare. We're not even joking! That really happened!) Thanks again to the amazing team for all their hard work!

It was amazing to have volunteers from Admiral Group Plc and Mitie at our summer Food Collections. During the 7 days across 3 stores we collected 6,186.5kg of food and essentials! Bendigedig! However, the shocking reality is that 6.1 tonnes of food will last less than 2 weeks. We are so grateful for the constant support of the general public and corporate groups. Not just in giving their time but in partnering with us to collect food or finance. To find out more, visit: https://lnkd.in/eaTkmUdq

Corporate Banking Manager, Cardiff at Handelsbanken UK

Great to support the communities that we operate in - today a number from the Handelsbanken Cardiff Branch spent the day working in the warehouse of Cardiff Foodbank (The Trussell Trust), hard work but eye opening. During the well known cost of living crisis, services such as Foodbank is needed more than ever - please support where you can when you see their collection baskets around. Handelsbanken prides itself on doing the 'right thing' and that is what we did today, providing our time to help Cardiff residents, whilst educating ourselves on food poverty. The Handelsbanken Cardiff Team 2 are doing their stint in October..! #Handelsbanken #Foodbank #corporatesocialresponsibility Alex Head ACBI Leon Benskin Simon Murray Simon Johns

Fantastic day supporting Cardiff Foodbank and The Trussell Trust with their food drive at Asda with my fellow PwC UK colleagues Alejandro Lopez, Raihan Azad and Ali Raza for One Firm One Day! It was very rewarding seeing people's generosity and support for a much needed cause. In a perfect world there wouldn't be any need for food banks and I know Cardiff Food bank and The Trussell Trust are working hard to make this a reality. This aligns with one of PwC's core values of community engagement and our purpose of building trust in society and solving important problems and I'm proud to be able to connect these two organisations. #PwCOFOD #PwCUK

    Local Organiser at Cardiff Foodbank

An update I didn’t expect I’d be posting a few months ago but 2024 has been a surprising year already! Last month I started my new role as a Local Organiser for Cardiff Foodbank where I will help create campaigns alongside the local communities of Cardiff, seeking to make long-term change and address key drivers of poverty. It’s a role I’m so passionate about and I’m pleased to say my first five weeks have definitely lived up to my expectations - potentially even surpassed them! It has been so varied, from school engagement events, media training in Birmingham, planning an Eisteddfod stand and amazing weekly local organiser training provided by The Trussell Trust. I loved attending The Trussell Trust Rolling Roadshow in Newport (bumping into about 10 people I knew - the Welsh Third Sector circle is pretty small!) and enjoyed attending a Grayling event about ‘Elevating Women’s Voices in Welsh Public Affairs’. Most importantly I’ve started to get out and about to the eight foodbank distribution centres across Cardiff, speaking to people using foodbanks and to the volunteers that keep them running - who appear to have magic powers at being able to fit so many supplies in very small cupboard spaces! I very nearly didn’t apply for this role as it was less than ideal timing, as I only started my Engagement Officer role with Digital Health and Care Wales in January this year. But I knew I’d regret it too much if I didn’t try for the role and I feel so grateful that my colleagues and manager at Digital Health and Care Wales understood this and completely supported me in my decision. Also, the skills and knowledge they taught me about stakeholder mapping and engagement plans have already been invaluable in my new role! So 2024 has already taught me a lot about trusting my decisions and I’m excited to see what the second half of the year brings, although maybe not quite so much change!

3.1 million parcels distributed, 1.1 million of those to children. Absolutely ridiculous that in the UK, this many people are accessing emergency food. It was such a pleasure to be a part of the team releasing these shocking stats, and to hear from people in Cardiff what they think needs to be done to see change. We want to see a hunger free UK, where Foodbanks aren't needed because everyone can afford the Essentials.

🎤 We asked the public if they could guess how many emergency food parcels our network provided last year. 🚨 No one even came close to the right answer - 3.1 MILLION. But one answer was clear – we need change. As we approach the next UK general election, we need all political leaders to set out how they will build a future where no one need emergency food to survive. 💚 #Foodbank #Charity

🚆✨ **Centregreat Rail Making a Difference!** ✨🚆 Last Friday, our dedicated team at Centregreat Rail and Ken Evans CEng FICE, from ERH embarked on a mission filled with compassion and community spirit at Tesco in Cardiff. We're thrilled to share that Centregreat Rail, in partnership with the Cardiff Foodbank and the The Trussell Trust successfully hosted a food donation drive to support those in need within our community. 🥫🍽️ Through the collective effort of our amazing team and the generous contributions from the people of Cardiff, we were able to gather a significant amount of food donations. These donations will play a crucial role in providing meals and support to families and individuals facing hardship. We believe in the power of community and the impact of coming together for a common cause. This event was a testament to the values we hold dear at Centregreat Rail - compassion, collaboration, and community service. A huge thank you to everyone involved - from our proactive team members who organized and participated in the drive, to the kind-hearted residents of Cardiff who donated. Your generosity and spirit have truly made a difference. #CentregreatRail #CommunitySupport #CardiffFoodBank #TrussellTrust #FoodDonation #MakingADifference #TeamWork #ThankYou

    Associate at NewLaw Solicitors

I had a great day volunteering with my colleagues at NewLaw Solicitors at Cardiff Foodbank last week. Thank you to all those at the firm who donated food or donated money for our food bank donation. Thank you also to those who volunteered on the day. Finally, thank you to Sam and the volunteers at Cardiff Foodbank who made us all welcome. It is awful in this day and age that we need food banks at all, but the need for food banks continues to grow and without donations from the public, they would soon run out of supplies. Please, please please, support and donate to your local food bank (a weekly list of most urgent items needed are posted weekly on their website).

On Friday we had the mammoth task of weighing ALL the stock in our warehouse in one day. We had an absolutely INCREDIBLE team of nearly 50 volunteers from Premier Inn to help us with our stock take and they absolutely smashed it! Together with some of our brilliant Foodbank volunteers, we processed, organised and weighed just under 50 tonnes of donations. Although we know that that's a huge amount of food. Here's 2 things to remember: 1) 50 tonnes of food only provides us with enough for between 3-4 months of emergency provision. As the need in our city increases, that timescale shrinks. 2) We should never need this much food to provide for people in need! Our goal is not to support more people, but to see long term change where the need for Foodbanks disappears. To all those who have donated to us: Thank you! We couldn't do this without you. And to the Premier Inn Cardiff team, Thank you for your time, energy, enthusiasm (and muscles!)
