Innovation, integration and sustainability: Hitachi Rail and the Comune di Firenze are working to drive a sustainable mobility transition.   The city of Florence is preparing to experience a renewal and strengthening of its tramway network that will allow passengers to enjoy more punctual, comfortable and safer public transport,   This important goal was made possible thanks to the collaboration between Hitachi Rail and the City of Florence, which since 2010 have been working together to ensure efficient urban transport.   This new project involves the design, supply and commissioning by Hitachi Rail of 46 new battery-powered trams in sections without catenary and the digital signalling to operate them for the city of Florence. In parallel, a contract of about 17 million euros has been signed between GEST SPA and Hitachi Rail to deliver maintenance for its 46 Sirio trams currently running on the Florence city network.   The overall project will make urban transport in Florence even more extensive and sustainable, thanks to innovative battery technology, and will expand the fleet with vehicles with transport capacity, better comfort levels and energy efficiency that determine the highest standards in the industry. In addition, a state-of-the-art digital signalling system and maintenance service will be guaranteed to ensure that vehicles currently in circulation continue to be perfectly efficient.    Find out more about the entire plan of modernisation of the Florence tram system ▶ https://bit.ly/3YrF2yS
