Our latest edition of Oxford Garage was a grand success! Themed on AI, our enthusiastic bunch of 27 students used ONE DAY to come up with nine (yes you heard right) convincing AI startup ideas and pitched them to early-stage investors (shout out to Michelangelo Valtancoli Viktoriia Oliinyk 🇺🇦 and Sriya Mantena). Thank you to Amu Varma for imparting his wisdom on building startups - best of luck with Canopy Labs, and to Lilly B. as well as the Oxford Science Enterprises team for lending their support (not least the beautiful venue!). Some takeaways: 😯 It continues to surprise me how much can be done in 7 hours. (maybe all the cramming problem sheets before the deadline helped...) 👾 Crazy ideas really might just work, and investors are eagle-eyed to find them. 🚀 There is a lot of unearthed potential when it comes to looking for future founders, especially in universities. The lack of startup experience shouldn't be a hindrance. Now, it's onwards to the next Garage chapter - we are currently exploring a deep-tech/biotech themed edition for the summer term, if you are an investor in this area and would like to be connected, just message!
