With summer season winding down, we’re shouting from the rooftops of our Pembroke places! Today we’ll focus on two of our buildings in Europe.   In London, 25 Cannon Street is an exceptional commercial office building that redefines the standards of contemporary workspace in the heart of the City of London.   Overlooking the iconic St Paul's Cathedral, London, this mini jewel of a City rooftop space has been created and is planted with innovation and style in contemporary raised beds. The small private rooftop garden demonstrates the versatility of a corporate urban space, using many herbaceous plants and grasses. The high-level urban greening forms part of the City’s biodiversity green corridor, which stretches from the Barbican Centre gardens in the north to the river in the south. It showcases the importance not only of creating beautiful, planted spaces, but also of providing essential habitats for wildlife within our City buildings.   In Sweden, Mästerhuset´s rooftop terrace is offering its tenants a unique 360° panoramic view of Stockholm! This spectacular space has been completely refreshed to offer a wide range of facilities and features such as yoga deck, meeting pavilion, event space, a bar and spacious seating areas for outdoor dining. There are multiple conference spaces, perfect for collaborating or buckling down to get work done. The centerpiece of the exterior lounge space is an elegant open-air cupola that can be booked for gatherings, social or corporate. We are fortunate to be in a prime location to take in views of constant ferry trafffic, an occasional Tall Ship and even fireworks. In the words of Dr. Seuss, “Oh, the places you will go,” Annika! No surprise this intern is going places, because she showed us this summer she is always on the move, making impact and multi-tasking! Annika Sundsted came to Pembroke this summer as an intern selected for the prestigious CREST Program (Commercial Real Estate Success Training ) in which minority and female college students are given the opportunity to dive deeper into the commercial real estate industry. Annika already has been tapping into her interest in real estate through her studies at Babson College where she is studying Finance and Real Estate. Annika met weekly with her CREST colleagues at industry and networking events, and when she was with us, she split her time working with our Boston-based marketing, asset management and development teams. This required time onsite at Commonwealth Pier, a very special Pembroke project where our team is thoughtfully revitalizing a landmark, waterfront property in the Seaport. The building has a history that dates back to over a century, and the site is intertwined with Boston's roots as a global maritime port and center of trade and commerce. Annika says her time working on Commonwealth Pier has sparked a new interest in architecture. Maybe she can find some architecture courses when she returns to Babson for her senior year? Annika also wants to thank her three managers, Niamh O'Maille, Kristan McLaughlin and Michael Bowers for sharing their knowledge and creating so many meaningful opportunities this summer. Blaze your trail, Seema Thakkar! This week Seema finishes her summer internship with the Fidelity Art Collection which is part of Pembroke. This recent Boston University graduate sandwiched a summer full of learning, collaboration and a deep immersion into the wonderful world of art before she heads to Amsterdam this fall to begin her Masters in Comparative Cultural Analysis with a focus on Arts and Culture at the University of Amsterdam - Amsterdam Business School—wow, very impressive! Seema was drawn to the Pembroke internship because of our people-first approach to the art collection. Seema is aligned in our thinking that art is for everyone, and the Fidelity Art Collection exists to enrich the lives of the associates and inspire creativity and innovation. We hope Seema find ways to travel and connect with our Europe-based teams while she studies, and, since our art team is always globe-trotting in search of art that amplifies learning, builds communities and cultivates well-being, we wouldn’t be surprised if she finds occasion to connect with her Fidelity Art Collection colleagues in the months to come. It is time to shine the spotlight on one of Pembroke’s intern, Akash Kumar. Akash is a rising senior at Bentley University, and he’s been working with our finance team this summer. We were so grateful that Akash landed at Pembroke as part of Fidelity Investments’s prestigious and large-scale Fidtern program. Akash has loved applying his financial acumen to real estate, and he has embraced skill development with some of the sophisticated digital tools we use to support strategic decision making relating to Pembroke’s global real estate portfolio of distinctive properties in the world’s leading cities. Akash’s manager Scott Camiel, CPA, MBA had this to say about Akash: "We talk at Pembroke about how career advancement moves not only vertically but also horizontally. Pembroke has a number of team members with deep expertise in a wide range of functional areas, and through cross collaboration, we work closely together each contributing their unique perspective and knowledge to do our work.
