💡 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗤𝗨𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗔’𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲! 💡 📱 A pilot test in employing quantum computing for mobile network optimisation conducted by D-Wave and Japan’s largest mobile phone operator, NTT DOCOMO, successfully used quantum-enhanced optimisation techniques to improve mobile network performance by 15%, reducing congestion at base stations during peak times. Networks across Tokai, Chugoku, and Kyushu were analysed and significant decreases in paging signals were ascertained, enabling better network efficiency and cost savings while helping users stay connected while travelling between signal areas. The quantum-enabled solution completed the optimisation task in 40 seconds compared with a purpose-built classical method which took 27 hours. DOCOMO plans to implement the technology across its Japanese offices in the coming months. 🔎 Read more: https://lnkd.in/daH8Hf8B ⬛ The QUBE project, led by DLR Group, focussing on developing and demonstrating satellite-based quantum key distribution using CubeSats was launched on 16th August in a SpaceX rideshare. Mission-operators made communications soon after launch with the 3.5kg cubesat and have begun launch and early operations phase. The project involves integrating space-qualified quantum communication tech into miniaturised satellites and aims to establish secure, tap-proof global communications by leveraging advancements in quantum key generation and optical communication. The mission also includes analysing atmospheric turbulence effects on laser communication. QUBE is a pilot initiative under the QUTEGA initiative, involving multiple German research institutions, and ran from 2017 to 2021. 🔎 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dTmcCF9e ✈ Following a successful deployment across multiple consecutive flights, AQNav, a quantum and AI-enabled GPS-free navigation system developed by @SandboxAQ, will receive continued development support through the United States Air Force newly extended partnership with SandboxAQ. The funding will support new configurations, including a pod-based system for various aircrafts. ASIC integrates into UQ’s Quantum Processing Units (iQPUs) and enables both UQConnect, their chip link technology for world-record qubit transfer rate of 2400Hz, with losses <1e-7, and UQLogic for ultra-efficient microwave manipulation of qubit. Operating at 70K, it addresses the 'wiring problem' and aims to enhance quantum error correction capabilities and execution of highly efficient execution of quantum algorithms at scale through superior qubit connectivity.
