Über uns

Save the Children Save the Children is the world's leading independent organisation for children. We work in around 120 countries. Our vision is to live in a world in which every child attains the right to survival, protection, development and participation. Last year Save the Children's programmes and campaigns reached more than 55 million children directly around the world, through our and our partners' work. We work to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. Across all of our work, we pursue several core values: accountability, ambition, collaboration, creativity and integrity.

The 17-year blockade in Gaza meant families struggled to access the basics even before the war⚠️ But since last October, aid has been blocked, delayed, attacked, & denied. Despite severe obstacles, our teams and local partners are working tirelessly to deliver essential supplies and to provide support to children and families in #Gaza. The international community must do all within its power to improve humanitarian access. Israeli authorities must #OpenUpGaza. Learn more about how people in Gaza are being denied life-saving aid👉 https://lnkd.in/eVVU2r9r #OpenUpGaza #CeasefireNow

  • A powerful new exhibition by UNIQLO's PEACE FOR ALL project and Magnum Photos, documenting the lives of children experiencing conflict and crisis from Ukraine, Vietnam and Ethiopia opens this week and will run in 10 countries.    Conflicts and crises take a devastating toll on children. As result, their education is disrupted, and their mental and physical health can suffer.   Magnum photographer Olivia Arthur visited one of Save the Children’s Counselling Hub in Bucharest, Romania. The Hub offers children displaced by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine the opportunity to participate in educational and other activities.   Liubov*, 10, who attends one of our Counselling Hubs in Bucharest, said: “In the ‘Save the Children’ sessions, I feel safe and joyful like a child. I enjoy participating in games, learning new things, and spending time with other kids who speak my language.”   Save the Children Romania has set up eight counselling hubs across the country, providing a range of services for refugees including counselling, child protection, education, mental health and psychosocial support activities.   UNIQLO and Save the Children have been working together since 2022. Through the PEACE FOR ALL initiative, we’ve supported and will continue to support children globally affected by conflict and emergencies. Catch the exhibition in a city near you until the 31st Oct👇

  • Children in Gaza are at risk of dying without aid and lifesaving supplies. We need a #CeasefireNOW. The international community must do all within its power to improve humanitarian access. Israeli authorities must #OpenUpGaza. ⚠️ Find out more about how children in #Gaza are being denied lifesaving aid👉 https://lnkd.in/eVVU2r9r

  • Children hope for a world where their rights are protected, where countries live in harmony, where everyone has enough to eat, and all children can learn🌎 They hope for a future where our planet is protected from the effects of #ClimateChange. But most of all, children just want to be children❤️ If leaders do not take meaningful action now, by 2030 we would have failed children. BUT THERE'S STILL TIME TO CHANGE COURSE. Children are sounding the alarm. They want meaningful actions, not empty promises. Now is the time for action⚠️ "Children are not just the future; we are the present. Our voices matter today, and we have the right to be heard in decisions that shape our world. We are the generation that will inherit this planet. We cannot wait for change to happen; we must be the change. I call on world leaders to listen to us, to take our concerns seriously, and to act now for a brighter future for all children." Nafiso, 16, Somalia. At this year’s UN Summit of the Future, we’re calling on leaders to listen to children, and to commit to building a fairer, safer and greener world for generations to come. ACT TODAY. SAVE TOMORROW. Explore children's messages and demands in the Children's Pact for the Future👇 https://lnkd.in/eMJbSYFj #GenerationHope #SaveTomorrow

  • Education is under attack in #Gaza⚠️ ❌Nearly every single school building has been damaged or destroyed. ❌More than 9,500 students and 400 educational staff have been killed and more than 15,000 students and 2,300 teachers have been injured in Gaza. ❌Schools are being used as shelters for more than 1.9 million people who have been forced to flee their homes. As a result, schools remain closed and hundreds of thousands of children will miss another academic year. Schools must never be battlegrounds. We need a ceasefire to protect children➡️ https://lnkd.in/e4k26Pqn #ProtectEducation

  • For over 100 years we've been helping ensure the world's children continue to learn, stay safe, and healthy❤️ Every year, we reach millions of children in more than 110 countries with the essentials they don't only need to survive, but thrive!🌟 Learn about our work and how you can support us➡️ bit.ly/460ffyv #InternationalDayOfCharity

  • We welcome the pause in fighting to allow for the polio vaccination campaign to take place, but 3 days won't be enough to protect the children of #Gaza. Our clinic in Deir Al Balah is one of the polio vaccinations sites in Gaza. 1,825 children were vaccinated on day 1 and we aim to help provide vaccinations to at least 3,000 children during the campaign. But over 600,000 remain at risk of paralysis and death⚠ A definitive ceasefire is vital to protect children's lives. Sign the petition today ➡ https://lnkd.in/e4k26Pqn

  • The rapid spread of the mpox virus in the DRC – it has about 90% of all reported cases globally - is putting a strain on an already fragile health system⚠️ Child mpox cases surge 75-fold in worst hit province as schools restart this week. With delivery of vaccines to DRC and neighbouring countries delayed, it is critical that the international community steps up funding so that schools can ensure they have adequate clean water, hygiene and sanitation measures for children in the next few weeks. Our health workers are providing medical care and racing against time to curb the spread of this deadly virus. Jemima Milolo, a Nurse Supervisor, reports further from Goma, #DRC👇 Share to raise awareness⚠️ #mpox

  • As many children head back to school over the coming weeks, millions still continue to be robbed of their #education by conflict and emergencies. For example, nearly 15 million refugee children have had their learning interrupted after being forced to flee their homes. We call on all governments, donors and organisations to recognise education in emergencies services as lifesaving and ensure its embedded within the first phases of every crisis response. Countless lives will be lost if it's not. In this new blog, our experts including Janti Soeripto, and Gabriella Waaijman explain the importance of education in emergencies. The situation in Haiti right now is catastrophic for children. For the last 6 months, gang violence has led to neighbourhoods being burned down, children being killed, recruited into armed groups and whole families being displaced. ⚠️ For many each day is a fight for survival. There is very little water, food or safe places to seek refuge, even for our own staff. ❤️ We're working with local partners and providing support to families such as cash assistance. Read the testimony from Anderson, one of our humanitarian workers in Haiti who has been directly impacted by the escalating violence👉 https://lnkd.in/eS-zBPyH Save the Children Global Media Manager Smantha Halyk provides an update on the situation in #Haiti and our response on the ground⬇️
