Our supported intern Joe is already underway on his 3rd and final placement at St George's Hall in Liverpool. The tasks Joe completed last week were so good; I thought it best to take as many pictures as possible and let the 📸 do it's job rather than me explain. Well done Joe on being amazing as always. Joe is already making a very very good impression with his physical strength, work ethic, task completion and speed! The Great Hall in St George's Hall had a dance competition, university dinner, a wedding on the weekend and today Joe was helping with setting up a conference. All work completed with smiles, impeccable manners and good banter with his new and supportive team. Introducing a brand new free exhibition at Cafe 1854 in St George's Hall: Amazing Grace! Brought to you by Cowper & Newton Museum, discover the fascinating story behind one of the world’s most recorded hymns, "Amazing Grace," written by Reverend John Newton. This hymn, composed for a New Year’s Day service in 1773, has become an international anthem, recorded by legends like Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, and Mariah Carey, and has even inspired former US President Barack Obama. Explore Newton's profound journey from a Liverpool First Mate and slave ship Captain to his transformation into a dedicated Tide Surveyor and ordained minister. Liverpool played a pivotal role in his life, where he wrote his life story and made his first abolitionist statement. Ahead of Newton’s 300th birthday in 2025, this exhibit from the Cowper & Newton Museum in Olney is touring venues, prompting reflection on the relevance of this 250-year-old hymn today.
