It is great to see proactive actions to limit the potential impact of cyder venerability in EV chargers. Sygensys report for National Grid ESO explains why this is so important for future grid security. https://lnkd.in/e8ci8Kpr Look out for announcements later this year regarding our technology to further mitigate these emerging threats. Thanks to Gareth Corfield for covering this important topic.

Electric car charger withdrawn over fears hackers could use it to attack the National Grid. Wallbox Chargers has been told by the Office for Product Safety and Standards, a regulator, that its Copper SB electric car charger does not comply with cyber security laws. Yet the charger remains sellable until 30th June, thanks to an undertaking Wallbox agreed with OPSS. Ken Munro says the EV industry has "inadvertently created a weapon that hostile foreign powers and others could use to destabilise our power grid." Read more: https://lnkd.in/eteNyCHy

Who would have thought that the subject of an obscure GB grid code modification would make mainstream TV? "GC0166: Introducing new Balancing Programme Parameters for Limited Duration Assets https://lnkd.in/d74pdFm4 Introduction of new parameters for limited duration assets (including Storage and Batteries) to optimise dispatch and planning. This will address the challenges around how such assets are dispatched efficiently and how to best plan for use of such units." Congratulation to Ed Conway and Skynewsuk.com for this report which will help gives the general public an insight into the challenges in modernising the electricity grid. It is a balanced accessible presentation of a complex subject. "The UK's electricity grid is struggling to catch up with the shifting energy map, as renewables replace fossil fuels and the grid’s infrastructure and management systems race to catch up. " As the title of the Sky report suggest we need to reinvent the UKs electricity grid. The transition we are making is from the steam-age dominated by large coal-fired power stations, to a complex green-age electricity grid ecosystem of renewable energy sources, energy storage systems and flexible load. https://lnkd.in/dS5YFd25
