Same goes for our product reviews – our rigorous tests and expert recommendations help consumers to make better decisions. We investigate and make change happen - from tackling online scams to campaigning for safer products, we’re the independent consumer voice that influences politicians and lawmakers and holds businesses to account. We are not influenced by third parties - we never take advertising or accept freebies from manufacturers. Everything we do is about championing consumers. Say hello to Maria Mlynarcikova, Financial Accountant with Which?. Prior to joining Which?, she spent almost 7 years working at an accounting practice where she earned her ACCA membership. She was attracted by the company’s legacy and brand, and says ‘Which? makes a positive difference in many consumers' lives and I’m very pleased to be able to play a role in this. As a financial accountant, almost every month brings challenges and I’m learning a lot. The company is currently implementing new accounting software and it’s interesting to be part of that journey. It’s great to see that Which? is providing an environment that supports employeee wellbeing. 'Our annual Shoddy Awards aim to push firms to do better by highlighting the products, services and business practices that have fallen short and let consumers down over the last year. Consumers rightly expect high-quality products and services for their money. It's rare to find a piece of advice that is so definitive, counter-intuitive AND relatively unknown. But experts all agree: socket protectors are more dangerous than keeping outlets bare. Glad to see this video getting so much traction on social media.

To see if AI can function as a personal shopper, we quizzed the free version of ChatGPT. We asked it for dozens of product recommendations and our experts were impressed by some of the bot's picks, but overall agreed that less than half of analysed searches returned a good set of recommendations. More worryingly, eight products in particular stood out for being unsafe, insecure, or poor quality, based on our tests. #AI #ConsumerRights

CAMPAIGN WIN! 'Ofcom confirming a ban on unpredictable mid-contract price hikes is a huge win for consumers. Which? has led the campaign to protect millions of households from being blindsided by telecoms price rises and give them certainty about the cost of these essential services. With Ofcom calling time on these unfair price hikes, providers must stop this practice immediately. Ofcom now needs to make sure that future mid-contract price rises are set competitively. It’s disappointing that ‘prices may vary’ terms have not been banned. The regulator must be prepared to intervene if these ad hoc increases are used as a back door for providers to impose unpredictable price increases on customers.' Rocio Concha Galguera, Which?
