Hope is on the horizon for river dolphins! 🙌 We've been working with WWF India and Pakistan on a mission to help these extraordinary creatures in Asia. Thanks to funding from the Biodiversity Challenge Funds, we’ve seen huge success through the use of acoustic pinger technology, which helps keep them at a safe distance and avoid entanglement. “For an initial trial, the results are extremely encouraging. Not only were pingers proven effective at avoiding river dolphin bycatch, but they also resulted in increased fish catch for fishers." - says Leanne Quille, Senior Programme Advisor at WWF-UK. A roaring triumph for tiger conservation. 🙌 Earlier this year, governments and organisations, including WWF, came together and pledged to raise a whopping $1billion to help protect tigers and their habitats over the next 10 years. With our current tiger conservation work in countries across Asia, we’re excited to see the strengthened support committed to these big cats. “This isn’t just about saving a single species. Protecting tigers and their habitat can help mitigate climate change, reduce the impact of natural disasters, and provide livelihoods for local communities.” - Becci May, Senior Programme Advisor. Together, we can bring our tiger populations back to life. 🧡 #Tiger #Conservation #GlobalTigerDay

The UK has become one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world. But we are also a nation of people and communities who care about our natural world.🌱 That’s why people, charities and partners like Aviva are taking action all across the UK: 🌸 Belgrave Community Garden raised £2,060 to bring nature and community together in the heart of Leicester, 🌊 Communities, businesses and experts are restoring vital seagrass habitats on our coastlines, 💧 Volunteers, charities and partners are reducing flood risk in the Soar River using natural solutions, 💚 The Aviva Access to Nature Fund is breaking down barriers to nature by supporting access to Norfolk’s rivers and countryside.

A NEW project shows it's possible to predict deforestation! 🙌 Right now, we’re losing our world’s forests at alarming rates. Protecting them now is more important than ever. WWF Netherlands are working with partners to help protect the future of forests. Using AI and satellite imagery, the new project alerts local authorities in the present - helping stop irreversible damage to forest habitat. With the project saving 30 hectares of forest in Gabon so far, it's now planned to be rolled out in a further 12 countries by 2027. Unfurl the full project details here. 🍃👇 https://lnkd.in/g6hM_xD7

This Summer, we're probably going to see more records broken. But they won't all be something to celebrate. From extreme weather events to unprecedented wildfires, climate records are being shattered everywhere on our planet. We need leaders to take action on the #ClimateCrisis. Together we can change the game. We can #ChangeClimateChange.

Did you know the WWF UK office is home to three thriving weeping fig trees? 🌳🌳🌳 With the help of planting from Sir David Attenborough himself, stepping into the WWF UK Living Planet Centre can almost feel like stepping into a gigantic treehouse. With indoor greenery and natural woods, the building has been awarded BREEAM status. This means it's recognised as one of the greenest buildings in the UK! 👇 https://lnkd.in/eZJcWMpP

The King’s Speech emphasis on climate action is a welcome step change. 👏 If GB Energy can speed up the rollout of cheap, clean British energy, it will be our biggest and best hope for a secure energy future and well worth celebrating. Both climate and nature must be at the heart of the Government’s vision for growth. https://lnkd.in/e73i-6RN
