Georgina Williams, PhD

I am an active STEM Ambassador and carry out a range of outreach activities to include and engage young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. I regularly participate in activities on behalf of the University of Leeds Outreach Programme, providing workshops in local primary and secondary schools and also through taking part in independent activities.

I am fortunate to be involved in the opening of the Tameside Coder Dojo (https://zen.coderdojo.com/dojo/gb/tameside-district/tameside-active-medlock, @TamesideDojo) where we will encourage local young people, aged 7-17, to develop their coding skills and undertake self-led projects.

I provided coding guidance at a local Leeds primary school code club to encourage children to increase their coding skills and creativity in developing their own programs and games.

I was part of one of the three events teams that planned and delivered the first ever Pint of Science events in Leeds. Pint of Science aims to bring cutting edge research to local pubs in an easily accessible format for the general public. I was part of the production team for the Roller Derby World Cup 2018 held in Manchester. I was involved in preparing the venue by arranging track and spectator areas and ensuring track quality and that safety standards were met, setting up and testing PA equipment and I was part of the team delivering the international live streaming of the event.
