We are pleased to announce the upcoming standard, PAS 2090 – Pharmaceutical products: Product category rules for environmental lifecycle assessments (LCA), supported by NHS England, Department of Health and Social Care Office of Life Sciences and the Pharma LCA Consortium. With a growing need to address environmental impact of medicines across the lifecycle, this new standard will provide the pharmaceutical industry and its stakeholders (healthcare system procurers, academia, investors, and regulators) with a consistent methodology to carry out lifecycle assessments for measuring the environmental footprint of medicines, ensuring transparency, and facilitating greener procurement practices. The standard is a consensus-led effort, with input from experts from across the healthcare and life sciences ecosystem. Get thinking about how your organization can implement PAS 2090 and make a real difference in sustainability by joining the Environmental Impact of Pharmaceutical Standards Hub- a digital community for stakeholders to collaborate, shape the development of this standard, share best practices, and stay informed on its development progress.
