Vannie Djounguep is reshaping gender equality, entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability in Cameroon and beyond. Her inspiring story is one of empowerment and impact. Originating from Cameroon, Vannie is not only an accomplished author but also a gender expert and sociologist dedicated to positively impacting her community. Recently, she participated in the esteemed Advancing Gender Equality and Women Empowerment 2023 Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy Training Programme, organized by the UNITAR Division for Prosperity / Hiroshima Office in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and generously funded by the Government of Canada.

12 July 2024, Hiroshima, Japan – UNITAR, together with the Hiroshima Prefecture and Nagasaki Prefecture will support in organizing the Second Preparatory Committee for the 2026 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) side event, led by the Government of Austria. The side event, “Advancing the Global Agenda of a Nuclear-Weapon-Free World”, will be a panel discussion and take place on 24 July 2024, from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. CEST/8:15 to 9:30 p.m. JST at the conference room XXII of the Palais des Nations.
10 July 2024, Hiroshima, Japan – On 6 August 2024, the 79th anniversary of the Hiroshima atomic bombing, UNITAR will hold a panel discussion “Dialogue with the World Leaders and Future Makers Towards a World without Nuclear Weapons”. The event will bring together leaders and young people and aims to exchange creative ideas to achieve a world without nuclear weapons. It will be held in-person at the Edion Peace Wing Hiroshima, 2F Lounge B and livestreamed on YouTube in English and Japanese.

1 July 2024, Hiroshima, Japan - UNITAR and ITS Education Asia invite motivated Asia Pacific youth to apply for the “2024 Youth Ambassador Asia Pacific Programme.” The programme will run for 8 weeks and focus on the theme “Local Solutions for Global Challenges: Youth Empowerment and Community Impact''. This training programme aims to deepen the youth’s understanding of the SDGs, strengthen their entrepreneurship skills, and assist them in developing ideas to combat community problems. The training programme will end with final presentations from the youth of their self-directed capstone projects to implement these projects in their local communities to drive positive change. The application deadline is 21 September 2024 at 6 pm HKT. The programme is open to a maximum of 5 youth per country who are located in the Asia Pacific region for the duration of the training. It will occur online for 8 consecutive Saturdays, culminating in a final virtual graduation event.
