A former female teacher at Garber High School in Essexville will not face criminal charges for an allegedly inappropriate relationship with a male student.

ESSEXVILLE, Mich. (WJRT) - A former Bay County teacher will not face a criminal charge after she allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a student.

A redacted copy of a police report indicates Garber High School's principal was notified in November of a possible inappropriate relationship between a female teacher and a male student.

The student's parent notified the school after finding thousands of messages between the teacher and their son. Investigators reviewed the messages and other evidence.

The report was submitted to the Bay County Prosecutor's Office, which declined to issue any criminal charges. The teacher was placed on paid leave in November and resigned in February.
