MIDLAND, Mich. (WJRT) - Northwood University in Midland is holding a camp for high schoolers interested in the auto industry.

The six-day "Full Tank Automotive Camp" funded by General Motors began on Sunday. On Wednesday, campers met with marketing managers and dealerships showing cars.

"This is an enhanced way for students to understand what they want to be when they grow up and learn about all aspects of the auto industry," says advisory board member Jenna Smith. "You don't have to just turn a wrench, sell a car or be in the automotive industry."

"It also invests back into the industry as the students decide whether they want to become technicians, engineers or dealers," says the automotive industry department chair at Northwood University, Elgie Bright.

The camp runs through Friday.

On Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m., the school is hosting a car show at the Sloan Family Building.
