The intersection of Dort Highway and Court Street in Flint will be closed for a culvert replacement from April 1 to Oct. 15.

FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) - Motorists will have to follow a detour around a stretch of Dort Highway during a summer-long culvert replacement project beginning in April.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is closing all lanes of Dort Highway in both directions around Court Street on April 1 to replace a culvert beneath the roadway, which allows Gilkey Creek to flow through the area.

Court Street traffic also will be blocked at the Dort Highway intersection during the project. The $7.7 million project is scheduled to last all summer with a completion date of Oct. 15 depending on weather conditions.

A detour route will be posted to direct drivers on Lapeer Road, Center Road and Robert T. Longway Boulevard in Flint.

MDOT is planning an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. March 20 at Mott Community College to discuss the project. It will take place in the college's Regional Tech Center Room 1301.
