Diamondbacks News

Arizona 5, Los Angeles 6
Ryne Nelson had a strong outing, following Joe Mantiply’s opening in which the lefty surrendered a first-inning run. Arizona’s offense managed to hang runs on the Dodgers in four different innings and left themselves with a terrific chance to steal a win in Chavez Ravine. Unfortunately for Arizona, Paul Sewald had his first hiccup of the season and the Dodgers escaped with a walk-off 6-5 victory.

Nelson Leads Strong (but Ultimately Losing) Outing Against Dodgers
It is difficult to see how Arizona could ask anymore of Ryne Nelson and the strong work he put in on Tuesday. The young right-hander gave the team five innings of one-run ball. The offense chipped in across four different innings. Paul Sewald entered the ninth with a one-run lead. Then, with the Dodgers down to their final out, Sewald hit a bump and the Dodgers took advantage, stealing away a much-needed win for Arizona.

Sewald, Lovullo Discuss All-Important Freeman At-Bat
With two outs and nobody on base, Shohei Ohtani having just struck out, Freddie Freeman stepped up to the plate as the Dodgers’ last hope. Eventually, Freeman doubled off of Paul Sewald to hand the Arizona closer his first blown save of the season. Paul Sewald and his manager discuss the outing.
