Nissan took the occasion of the Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to reveal the all-new 2020 Nissan Versa. This subcompact sedan goes on sale this summer with a new look, new technology, and the advanced safety features buyers want at a price they can afford.
“First impressions are exceptionally important, which is why we are thrilled to introduce the all-new 2020 Versa directly to our customers in such a memorable way,” said Claudia Marquez, vice president of sales operations, Nissan North America, Inc. “The Versa is our first impression into the Nissan family. I believe that when customers see this beautiful new car and all the amazing technology that comes with it for the price, they will be part of the Nissan family for life.”

While crossovers and SUVs are the vehicles of the moment and some automakers are discontinuing sedans, not everyone needs something that large. Especially for first-time buyers who are young and don’t yet need seating for extra passengers or room for lots of cargo, a subcompact sedan is the perfect choice.
There’s also the matter of being able to afford a new car at all. First-time buyers often have a tight budget and adding a car payment to the list is tricky. The Versa offers those buyers a chance to get a new car with modern features without breaking the budget.
It also shows off a bold new look that keeps it from being just another sedan. Designers incorporated Nissan’s signature V-motion grille, boomerang-shaped headlamps, and floating roof to keep the Versa’s styling in line with the recently redesigned Maxima and all-new Altima.
“This third-generation Versa design is all about the proportion and stance, to the point where we expect people to look at it and say, ‘Wow, is that a Versa?’” said Giovanny Arroba, program design director, Nissan Global Design Center, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “The wheels are pushed out, there’s an imposing grille presence, everything about it says lower, wider, longer.”

It has plenty of safety and technology features that are often hard to find in an affordable sedan. Customers want connectivity options and safety, even if they’re shopping with a limited budget, and Nissan delivers with the new Versa.
Standard safety features across the lineup include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear automatic braking, lane departure warning, and high beam assist. Available features like blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, intelligent driver alertness, and intelligent cruise control round out the package.
The Versa will be available in S, SV, and SR trims similar to other vehicles in the Nissan lineup. All three trims will be powered by the same 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with 122 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque. You will have a choice of transmission with either a continuously variable automatic or a 5-speed manual.
Inside, the Versa offers a comfortable space for up to five passengers with updates that include the “Gliding Wing” instrument panel that helps give this compact sedan a more open feel. There’s also a standard seven-inch infotainment screen.
In vehicles designed to be affordable, infotainment screens often get very small. This makes them hard to use and lets everyone know you’re in an economy car. Getting a seven-inch screen in every Versa ups its appeal. There’s also available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless connectivity – something younger buyers consider a priority.

Additional standard features include remote keyless entry, push button start, and power windows, which again gives the Versa features that are hard to come by in this segment. Options like automatic climate control and heated front seats further improve its likability.
While the popularity of sedans is decreasing, they continue to remain a solid choice for those who don’t want or simply aren’t ready for a crossover or SUV. The Versa is an entry-level sedan with style, features, and affordability perfectly tailored to first-time buyers.
