Last week, local talent Ayo Edebiri said something on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” that may have brought back deeply-buried memories for some Bostonians:
“I’m obsessed with Cool Dogs.”
Edebiri, a Dorchester native who currently stars in Hulu’s “The Bear,” told Meyers during an interview that she “dreams” of Cool Dogs, a local confection that used to be sold at Fenway Park and Story Land.
“Nobody outside of the Greater Boston area seems to know what they are,” she said, adding that she would eat them at Boston sports games.
“They’re foul and they’re perfect,” Edebiri said. “The bread is cake, and the dog is ice cream, but it’s put through the same machine they make hot dogs through, so the shape is a hot dog. The mustard is chocolate sauce, and the relish is whipped cream.”
Unfortunately, the Cool Dogs website is broken, but photos appear on various social media sites, including X and Reddit.
I have just learned from Ayo Edebiri on Seth Myers that the beloved Cool Dog is a Boston only phenomena.
