Who says patriotism is dead? Not the dozens of dogs who took to the Broadway loop at Salisbury Beach Thursday for the 17th annual Fourth of July Pet Parade.

Organized by the Salisbury Beach Partnership, the event featured a stream of USA-themed doggies and their equally patriotic human companions, all vying for attention and some fun awards. While red, white, and blue were by far the most prevalent colors, there was at least one pink-clad Barbie dog, and more than a few ballerinas in the crowd.

Following the event, sponsored by Newburyport Bank and Salisbury Discount House, crowds were scheduled to be treated to a performance by Scott Brown & The Diplomats on the Salisbury Oceanfront Stage. (Yes, that Scott Brown.)
