Todashev was a friend of deceased Boston marathon bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev. McFarlane and two Massachusetts State Police officers were interrogating Todashev in his Florida home when they say he became violent and attacked. Neither State Police trooper was involved in the shooting, according to Florida and FBI investigations into the incident.
