Report: Rockies to dump Delcarmen

Troy Renck, the excellent Rockies beat writer for the Denver Post, reported tonight that Colorado planned to non-tender Manny Delcarmen later this week.

MDC had a 6.48 earned run average in only nine appearances for the Rockies after the Sox traded him on July 31. The Sox shipped him out after a series of inconsistent performances.

Manny will be 29 before the start of next season. If healthy, he will get a chance to pitch for somebody next season. It would be a surprise if the Red Sox wanted him back unless it was on some type of minor-league deal. Even then, it seems unlikely.
