As of Aug. 1, stays in so-called overflow shelters are limited to just five days, without the option to reapply. Additionally, people now have to wait at least six months before they could qualify for placement at a longer-term facility. Families are left in limbo, while trying to build a new life in Massachusetts. Reporter Giulia McDonnell Nieto del Rio spoke to families about their quest for safety and security.
