Maud Maron is a Sophomore Representative on Stuyvesant High School's School Leadership Team (SLT) who was elected to her position in June 2023 without receiving significant attention from the Stuyvesant community. Prior to her tenure on the SLT, Maron was an unsuccessful Democratic candidate for New York City's 1st City Council district in 2021 (her campaign even put up posters promoting her campaign around a block and a half away on Chambers St in October 2021) and New York's 10th congressional district in 2022. Her campaign platform and her stances promoted deeply hurtful and bigoted policies and rhetoric toward vulnerable minorities, including people of color and LGBTQ+ people, especially against African-American people and transgender people, and has questioned concerns of mental health, and is also a member of the Moms of Liberty, an organization classified by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a far-right extremist organization, which seeks to influence school policy to harm LGBTQ+ students and students of color. Maron has also spread hateful rhetoric about the Stuyvesant student body as well, and is linked with many groups that seek to harm vulnerable students. She continues to engage in this hateful behavior today, as can be seen on her Twitter account, @MaudMaron .

If Maron is permitted to remain on the SLT, Stuyvesant's most vulnerable communities may feel unsafe and threatened by her ability to influence school policy in a way that may harm them. Although the SLT is an advisory panel, the advisory role of the position can be used to encourage administration to alter school policies in more subtle ways that may prove detrimental to students of color and LGBTQ+ students. Maron's engagement in behavior that diminishes the existence of these vulnerable minority students may also make students feel unsafe and could contribute to their harm given the rise of right-wing violence being encouraged by the internet through such people spewing such rhetoric, especially when she and her associates have tried to spread hateful lies about the Stuyvesant student body.

It is self-evident that in the best interest of the Stuyvesant community that Maud Maron must be removed immediately from her position on the Student Leadership Team by the Stuyvesant administration. The safety of many of Stuyvesant's most vulnerable students is at stake, and her hateful rhetoric and behavior cannot be entertained here.
