Netherlands camp is rocked by row between Wout Weghorst and Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber... with Ronald Koeman having to separate the pair before former Man United striker storms off

Former Manchester United star Wout Weghorst stormed off after being involved in a heated clash with Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber in Netherlands training.

The pair are currently with the Dutch team for Nations League clashes against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany, with Ronald Koeman's side beating the former 5-2 on Saturday.

Both players came off the bench during the victory, with Weghorst scoring a late goal to continue his impressive record for the Oranje.

However, on Sunday, the forward was left angry following a challenge by Timber in training as the Netherlands prepared for their clash at home to Germany on Tuesday.

The Arsenal man appeared to catch Weghorst on the ankle as they challenge for the ball, with the giant striker left writhing on the floor in pain.

He was left furious with the challenge and confronted Timber, with Koeman forced to intervene and calm down the pair.

However, Weghorst couldn't hide his frustrations as he later seemed to bring the incident up again, with Brighton's Jan Paul van Hecke attempting to calm the 32-year-old down this time.

However, Weghorst remained incensed and was then seen wondering off the training pitch at the end of the session - where he took off his top - before he cycled away while on his phone.

The Metro reported that Koeman attempted to act as peacemaker in the clash and told the pair: ‘I said something to you, I said something to them.’

Weghorst continued to express his frustration, to which Koeman replied: ‘And now it’s over!’.

Koeman later confirmed that Weghorst, who was amongst the scorers against Bosnia, hadn't suffered an injury.

The striker had a spell on loan at Manchester United from Burnley in 2023, before he made the switch to Ajax last month after spending the 2023-24 campaign with Hoffenheim.

Weghorst has proven to be somewhat of a cult hero at international level, with the 32-year-old scoring several cruical goals.

In total, Weghorst has netted 13 goals in 40 appearances for the Netherlands since making his international debut in 2018.

Meanwhile, Timber is back in the Netherlands squad for the first time in more than a year following his recovery from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
