Netflix gave viewers a glimpse at Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth in a first-look trailer for the movie Lonely Planet on Thursday.
The movie follows 57-year-old Dern as Katherine, an introverted author who arrives at a prestigious writer’s retreat in Morocco.
Working through a creative block, she meets 34-year-old Liam's Owen and their relationship 'evolves into an intoxicating, life-altering love affair,' according to a synopsis.
Dern told People magazine about the narrative, 'I love that the story focuses on connection and intimacy and feeling truly seen.
'It’s a romance of self-discovery as much as it is deeply knowing another person.'

'The characters are relatable, flawed and navigating the beauty and challenges of love in a setting that’s visually stunning and culturally rich.'
Gushing about his co-star, he said Laura is 'incredibly grounded and generous.'
The Hollywood leading man, who was formerly married to Miley Cyrus, added, 'She has this incredible ability to elevate every scene with her emotional depth, and at the same time she makes the entire set feel collaborative and supportive.'
He noted that the upcoming Netflix romance 'reminded me why I love making films,' explaining, 'It’s not just for the work itself, but for the bonds you form with people you share that journey with.'
Laura recalled her most memorable moment from the movie set, sharing it was 'Liam feeding me 87 olives and riding on the back of his motorbike.'
And the Big Little Lies actress described Hemsworth as a 'protective champion and partner' throughout the filming process.

Speaking with Tudum, Dern called their onscreen chemistry 'pure magic.'
She said that the Australian hunk 'became not only a buddy and a confidant through our Moroccan adventure, but our shared longing [for] honesty and intimacy in all relationships was very moving to me.'

The feature was written and directed by Susannah Grant, who penned Erin Brockovich.
In addition to Dern and Hemsworth Diana Silvers, Younès Boucif, Adriano Giannini and Rachida Brakni also appear in the film.
Lonely Planet will begin premiere on the streaming platform October 11.
