Dame Judi Dench, 89, who is known for her roles in James Bond and Cats, has issued a devastating update on her acting career.

Hollywood actress Dame Judi Dench recently revealed she may be saying goodbye to her acting career, candidly admitting, "I can't even see".

The 89-year-old Oscar winner, renowned for her performance in 'Spectre', hasn't adorned the big screen since her last appearance in 2022's 'Spirited'.

The icon is courageously contending with macular degeneration, which has significantly impacted her vision.

The condition has progressed to the point where she can no longer drive or read scripts.

When posed a question regarding any forthcoming projects at the Chelsea Flower Show in London, the Dame Judi responded heartbreakingly: "No, no, I can't even see!"

The Daily Express sought further clarification from her agent regarding her acting plans, receiving the reply: "Judi has nothing more to add than all she mentioned to the journalist."

Even though she has retreated from the limelight recently, the legendary actress maintains activity through off-screen ventures.

She continues to promote her book due for release in 2023, 'Shakespeare: The Man Who Pays the Rent'.

Judi is also scheduled to grace the Cheltenham Book Fair and will share the stage with storyteller Gyles Brandreth for three shows.

Towards the end of 2022, Dame Judi asserted her determination to keep working despite her visual impairment.

During an interview on Louis Theroux's BBC show 'Louis Theroux Interviews', she confessed: "I don't want to retire. I'm not doing much at the moment because I can't see. It's bad.

"I have a photographic memory so a person saying to me, 'This is your line...'. I can do that ."

A few years back, this talented actress got a 'carpe diem' tattoo inked onto her right wrist and she recently revealed to Yours magazine that she has absolutely no plans of slowing down with age.

She further stated: "We've got to keep going and not think of age too much. You have to think you are about 56.

"I'm a great advocate for not sitting back. I can never think, 'Oh, my eyesight's bad, I can't possibly do this'. I refuse to be beaten by age."
