Holby City star Rosie Marcel was a firm fan-favourite in the BBC drama for her portrayal of Jac Naylor. Since the soap came to an end two years ago, the 47-year-old has been keeping her followers up to date with her life.

Taking to Instagram at the start of the week, the actress showcased her new hairstyle. Winking at the camera while blowing a kissing face, Rosie captioned the image: “Hello again Red. I’ve missed you.”

Although this isn’t the first time that Rosie has sported red locks, she’s opted for a lighter look over the years. It wasn’t long before people commented on the hair change-up, with many quick to compliment the transformation.

Holby City came to a dramatic end in 2022, after airing on the BBC for 23 years, with its first episode being shown in 1999 with a small cast of 11 characters.

In a statement, the broadcaster revealed it was a “difficult” decision to cancel the beloved programme, as they highlighted how proud they were of it.

Part of their statement read: “We sometimes have to make difficult decisions to make room for new opportunities and as part of the BBC’s commitment to make more programmes across the UK, we have taken the difficult decision to bring the show to a close in order to reshape the BBC’s drama slate to better reflect, represent and serve all parts of the country.”

In a dramatic last episode, BBC fans were distraught when they saw Rosie’s character killed off.

With Jac battling a brain tumour in the show, people were hopeful the operation she had would save her life.

However, tragedy struck when she suffered a blood clot post-op and had a stroke.

As she signed an advanced do not resuscitate order beforehand, her colleagues had to allow Jac to die.

Despite viewers being devastated that the soap had ended on such a tragic note, actress Rosie Marcel told The Sun she was glad it had been axed, as it allowed her to spend more time with her daughter.

She said: “I don’t think I really knew who I was, and I don’t think I really knew who my daughter was, until I was axed. My husband Ben [Stacey] did it all.

“I left the house first thing and was back really late. My character was incredibly popular so I was there all the time. It was very rare that I got time off."
