Dan Walker sparks concern with cryptic post after sharing secret health battle

Dan Walker appeared to share a message about friendship earlier this week, with it being posted after he had been recovering from an apparent injury for a number of weeks

Dan Walker, the 41 year old presenter, took to Instagram this week to share a poignant quote about friendship. The post read: "True friends are those who lift you up when no-one else noticed you were down."

Alongside it, he penned: "What a quote."

He then encouraged his followers to tag their own "true friends" in the comments section of the post.

The heartfelt message from the Channel 5 newsreader has since garnered over 6,000 likes and sparked a flurry of responses. Some fans tagged their friends, while others shared their thoughts on the sentiment.

One follower wrote: "100%! I'm not one to share/display that I'm going through a bad patch, but those who care will know and act on it.", reports the Mirror.

Another added: "Even if you're not down, true friends are the ones that lift you up! " A third commented: "This is so true. It has brought tears to my eyes."

Another fan shared a similar quote: "True friends aren't the ones who make your problems disappear. They are the ones who won't disappear when you're facing problems," as another added: "Only if you have a friend like that dan."

The post emerged just after Dan disclosed his comeback to the golfing greens following a wrist injury hiatus. The ex-BBC Breakfast anchor had previously shared that he suffered torn ligaments in the wrist.

Dan broke the news on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, back in May. Sharing an image of a wrist brace, he quipped about his enforced break from the fairways while tuning into the US PGA Championship, posting: "Watching the #USPGA is the closest I'm going to get to a golf course for at least a month. I have torn a ligament in my wrist."

Subsequently, Dan was seen donning the wrist support in a selfie before attending the League Managers Association (LMA) Awards, sparking curiosity over his injury. He captioned the snap: "Off to the [LMA] awards tonight. Should be a fun one."

Nevertheless, the broadcaster has been spotted without the wrist support lately, including in snaps from the Classic FM studio. Earlier this year, it was revealed that he would be joining the station, and he's now the voice of its morning programme.

More recently, Dan took to X last week to share his joy at returning to golf. Posting a video of himself at a virtual golf facility, he expressed: "First proper swing in nearly 9 weeks after tearing ligaments in my right wrist. Need to get back in the grove and it all feels a bit odd but delighted to be able to do it without too much discomfort. I love golf so much."

He later shared more clips of his practice sessions on Instagram, hinting at an upcoming meeting with professional golfer Danny Willett. Dan is keen to "get in shape" before their encounter.

In his post, Dan stated: "I'm starting to feel a little bit more like normal. 2nd session at @pitchgolf after 9 weeks off the course with torn wrist ligaments."

He humorously added, "[Danny] and I have our second golf day next Friday so need to get in shape to make sure he doesn't destroy me again."
