'As a close confidant of Trump's, I have a warning for Brits thinking about voting Labour'

The UK benefits from America's lead and it won't work if we have a self-loathing woke politician at number 10, says Sebastian Gorka.

I may be an American now, and a former Deputy to the President of the United States, but I know what the Left can do to destroy the United Kingdom.

I was born in the UK and a child during James Callaghan’s disastrous Prime Ministership which culminated in the Winter of Discontent, with union leaders on the warpath, the TUC blackmailing Number 10, rubbish in piles uncollected in the streets, picket lines blockading hospitals, and even the nation’s gravediggers on strike.

Thank the good Lord, the voters eventually saw sense and then brought in the Grantham shopkeeper’s daughter to save the nation.

Under Margaret Thatcher Great Britain was back. Big time. From unleashing the economy and unleashing North Sea oil and gas to fuel the nation, encouraging innovation, home ownership, and most importantly, pride in the nation, the United Kingdom soared, even when tinpot dictators from Argentina tried to steal British sovereign soil. Then the wets and Europhiles stabbed Maggie in the back and after seven years of faux-conservativism, the UK was plunged into the dark days of Blairism and New Labour.

What did those years bring Great Britain? Was it really a “Third Way” as advertised? Of course not. From the Dodgy Dossiers to pro-Brussels sycophancy, a very different UK resulted. But at least the scene was set for a return to Conservatism. Or was it?

As an American Conservative today, I will leave it to the reader to qualify just how “conservative” the Cameron-May-Johnson-Truss-Sunak years have been for you. Although Downing Street having five residents in just 12 years is an indictment in an of itself. But I will warn you of what happens if Labour returns to power.

Since my former boss left the White House, Americans have been living a dystopia nightmare. The figures alone are mind-numbing. From mortgages ballooning from 3% to 8%. From petrol going from $2 under Trump to over $4 today. Then add the 30% increase in the cost of living, for the staples of life, like bacon and eggs and even energy, to the utter insanity of living in a nation with no borders. Yes, I know the UK has its own immigration issues, but they pale in comparison to the more than 10,000 illegals entering our country a day, which adds up to more than eight million unauthorized immigrants since Joe Biden was sworn in.

Beyond that, we have a world on fire, with war in Ukraine, Israel under attack, and Afghanistan surrendered and back in the hands of the Taleban who originally harboured Osama bin Laden.

The world is a safer place when America leads. Not an interventionist Neo-Conservative America, but an America typified by the stance of President Trump: treating our enemies as enemies and our friends as friends. There has been no better friend that the United Kingdom over the years. The “Special Relationship” was truly special. But it only worked when the leadership of both nations loved their respective countries.

Right now it looks increasingly as if President Trump will be back as the 47th Commander-in-Chief. The Special Relationship will only be special again if the resident of 10 Downing Street isn’t a self-loathing woke politician of the Left.

Sebastian Gorka was born in the UK to refugees from Communist Hungary. He is host of the AMERICA First national radio show and served as Deputy for Strategy to President Trump.
