James Bond: Pierce Brosnan BACKS Tom Hardy to replace Daniel Craig
JAMES BOND star Pierce Brosnan has backed Tom Hardy to replace Daniel Craig.
Immersive James Bond experience '007 ELEMENTS' set to open soon
The incumbent James Bond still has one more movie to go, but speculation has been rife over his replacement.
Craig’s replacement favourite at the bookies is one Tom Hardy, who has now been backed by a former 007.
Speaking with Daily Mail, Brosnan said: “Daniel Craig has been an incredible Bond. He’s very physical, he looks lethal. You genuinely believe this is someone who could kill a man.
“He will do the next movie, and then I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond.”
Brosnan added: “I’d be happy to see him do it. You need an actor who can put a bit of wiggle into it – that’s what makes Bond.”
On April Fools Day this year Express.co.uk ran a prank story saying Hardy had been announced as Craig’s replacement.
Meanwhile another former Bond has backed Idris Elba to play 007 next.
Asked whether a black actor could play James Bond, the 76-year-old said: “That's beyond me. I mean, why not? That's what I say.
“But then on the other hand, you're going to have a lot of people scratching their head going ‘James Bond wasn't black’.”
Brosnan has also warmed to Elba aside from Hardy saying: “Idris Elba certainly has the physicality, the charisma, the presence.”
As it stands at the bookies Hardy is joint-favourite and 3/1 with McMafia’s James Norton.
Meanwhile Elba’s odds range from 8/1 to 6/1, which is around the same as Poldark star Aidan Turner.
Daniel Craig will return as James Bond in Bond 25, which hits cinemas on October 26, 2019.
