Former Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson was left stunned at a supercar used in the new Grand Tour TV special, admitting he purchased a model right away after returning home.
The famous host opted to get behind the wheel of a Jaguar F-Type V6 Supercharged VS on the Grand Tour’s latest Sand Job programme.
After battling the Sahara desert, Jeremy admitted he “cannot lavish enough praise” on the vehicle and admitted he now has two in his collection.
As well as buying a brand new version of the car, the original vehicle which the trio took on their latest journey remains with Clarkson at his Diddly Squat farm in Chipping Norton.
However, Mr Clarkson also called out fellow co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May who had less than enjoyable times in their vehicles on the latest adventure.
He said: “The Jaguar F-Type V6 Supercharged VS. Well put it like this: it was so impressive, I came home and bought one immediately. And I don't think Hammond bought an Aston Martin afterwards.
“The other two made unwise choices, as usual. The Jaguar was so tough and so unbreakable. I discovered something interesting: Jaguar has a reputation for making flimsy cars, cars that fall to pieces, it has this reputation for unreliability, so I couldn't understand why my car was so capable.
“I did some checking, and it turns out that at the time this car was made, Jaguar Land Rover – which is one company – had one test that a car had to pass before it could go on sale which is all to do with mounting curbs at high speed and running over potholes and biffing into things.

"And the test was designed for the Range Rover, but the Jaguar had to pass the same test. So they are extraordinarily strong.
“I cannot lavish enough praise on that car. I brought back the one I drove in Mauritania too, I have it at the farm.”
The Grand Tour special will see the hosts start in Mauritania and head into Senegal as they follow in the footsteps of the iconic Paris-Dakar rally race.
The three will have to tackle the rough terrain in modified road cars instead of bespoke rally racers used by motorsport pros.
Mr Clarkson opted for the Jaguar whereas James went with a Maserati GranCabrio and Hammond an Aston Martin DB11 Volante.
The latest trailer shows Richard battling to control his Aston Martin over the dunes and later reported losing his air conditioning.
The new series will stream on Amazon Prime Video on February 16.
