'I tried the burger one woman travelled five hours for - and I was disappointed'

One woman travelled five hours for a burger - but was it really worth this journey?

The story of Charlotte Kahl, the woman who took four days off work and travelled for five hours all to try a burger from Manchester fast food outlet Burgerism, certainly piqued my interest, and living in the city I knew I just had to give the place a try.

As a vegetarian, I had two choices of burger the Veganed and the Veggied and opted for the latter as although I might not want meat on my burger I definitely wanted some cheese.

While my boyfriend opted for the Cheesed - the exact burger that Charlotte travelled from Winchester to try.

Ordering from Deliveroo the food arrived in less than half an hour, so it was already clear that the outlet certainly lived up to the "fast" part of fast food, but it remained to be seen just how good the burger was.

After making her odyssey to the Salford Burgerism branch, Charlotte said: "The trip was absolutely worth it.

"From the first bite, I knew I had found something completely unique and delicious. The patties were perfectly smashed, the sauce was incredible, and the side of chips made the meal a solid 10/10.

"Burgerism truly deserves its spot as one of the top burgers in Britain, I will most definitely be making the trip again."

However, we weren't quite as blown away as Charlotte. While the veggies burger was nice it certainly wasn't the best I've ever had, and personally I'd say the stand-out part of my meal was not the burger but actually the chips which were delicious.

And when it came to the beef burger, my boyfriend had very similar thoughts, and disagreed with Charlotte's statement that the burger was "unique", seeing as it was simply two beef patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion in a brioche bun.

Despite having two patties, both burgers were also on the smaller side, although you can pay extra for an additional two patties if you wish.

Ultimately, while we'd happily order from Burgerism again, we're not sure it's worth travelling five hours and 200 miles for.
