BORIS JOHNSON has left Downing Street with his family - but where is the Prime Minister right now?
Boris Johnson on August 31st leaving date from Afghanistan
Boris Johnson has left No 10 despite the ongoing crisis situation in Afghanistan. His spokesman has refused to say he is “on holiday” and has stressed he is “continuing to work”, but concede the Prime Minister had left the nation’s capital with his wife and young son Wilfred.
Where is Boris Johnson?
Mr Johnson left Downing Street on Sunday to take a few days holiday in the countryside.
No 10 said the PM is currently in the west country but is working on issues related to the fallout from the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.
The PM’s official spokesman said Mr Johnson is due to return to London on Thursday.
The spokesman however refused to call the Sunday to Thursday break a holiday, saying: “The Prime Minister is continuing to work.”

Many on social media were quick to share their outrage at these reports.
One Twitter user wrote: “So going away with your family for a few days to a different part of the country is 'not a holiday' and building an extension to an existing hospital is a 'new hospital'. The gaslighting and 'newspeak' of this Govt is breathtaking.”
Another added: “He does not have to take holiday, every day is a holiday for Johnson; he has not done honest days' work in his life.”
One person commented: “Another holiday, he only just returned the other day. The UK has the most idle PM in the western hemisphere.”
Another person said: “His entire life is a holiday. Never done a real day’s work in his life.”
Leeds North West Labour MP Alex Sobel also criticised Mr Johnson’s actions, saying: “If it's not a holiday what is it?
“MPs haven't had a briefing call since Thursday and I am now with over 200 family members stuck in Afghanistan and not a single response on a single case.”
However, some praised the PM for his work with Covid and said he deserved a break.
One person wrote: “Good. He deserves a break”.

The outrage comes after Dominic Raab was heavily criticised for not returning for his holiday in Crete while the Taliban made a rapid takeover of Kabul.
Many have called for Mr Raab’s resignation - with Downing Street and Boris Johnson insisting they have full confidence in Mr Raab’s management. No 10 added there are no plans for a reshuffle.
It comes as Mr Raab admitted a number of British nationals who had been left behind in Afghanistan in the “low hundreds”.
Mr Johnson has now been accused of repeating mistakes made by his Foreign Secretary.
He departed on his 'not a holiday' break on Sunday, despite the US not completing its withdrawal from Kabul airport until Monday, August 30.
The Prime Minister was also criticised for taking a break from London earlier this month amid Afghanistan's takeover by the Taliban.
Mr Johnson owns a one-fifth share of a property in Somerset, the county where he spent much of his childhood.
The Johnson family are said to own a 500-acre farm in Somerset, where some of them reportedly stayed during the coronavirus lockdown last year.
